Yeah I remember being really chuffed with the tornado tanks TW used to do. The idea of a tank was so revolutionary! Dry hits and flooding ensued! I tend to stick with my igo-w clone these days and am very happy with it. Always works, micro coil and cotton setup is so easy to maintain (just whack some new cotton in after a dry burn!). Hard to see how it could be much better!

Maybe it's my ignorance, but isn't a dripping atty a pain in the backside? I mean, you need to carry a bottle of juice around with you all the time to keep dripping it. Or am I missing something?

A tank is more useful for out and about, but a dripper is great if you want to go to a B&M shop and try out different juices. I mostly vape at home and dripping suits me. I hardly use my KFL+ because I get bored of flavours so quickly that I never get close to vaping a tank full before I want to change. I almost exclusively use my IGO-W RDA (rebuilable dripping atomiser) because as Devrij says, it's so easy to use and change flavours with. Almost every day, I remove the cotton, stick the IGO-W, cap and drip tip under the tap, dry with paper towel, dry burn the microcoil, stick new piece of cotton wool in and juice it with some new flavour that takes my fancy. Whole process takes 2 minutes max. Depending how much cotton you put in, you can get several puffs before rejuicing, and rejuicing takes 2 seconds.

Btw Devrij, IGO-W clone? :p Didn't know there were clones of this. The genuine ones are cheap enough. Got mine from vaping vision and was only £11 with discount and free shipping.

Yeah FT have them for under a fiver. Silly not to pick one up if you've ever been curious about drippers. I find it less faff to squirt a few drops in before having a vape than to endlessly fiddle about with a tank that's not wicking well or flooding, or the rigmarole of cleaning it out to change flavours etc. I always carried a bottle of liquid anyway in case a tank leaked or I just ran out, so it's no hassle to me. When it needs maintenance I just yank the cotton out, dry burn, and thread new cotton through. Maybe give it a rinse if the flavour is totally different, but usually not.

Think I need a new tank, using a CE4 and getting a really bad burnt taste at least 1/20 puffs.

Want something not Kanger etc, any mod tanks good for use with a eGo battery?

Ah yeah, I see it on FT, comes with drip tip too. Mine came with 2 airholes mind you. But yeah, decent value for $6.

It really does need two airholes for dual coil, but I only run a single anyway. Tempted to pick up a legit one for dual coiling though.

It isn't realy an issue for me, I just carry a 5ml bottle around which are tiny, I get around 10 draws from my setup, realy not an issue if you put it against the potential flooding/leaking issues I used to have previously with tank setups.

Ah, I've never tried a dual coil setup, I'm also single coil. Actually, come to think of it, that might account for why I don't find the draw on it tight as people mentioned about the IGO-W. I find the draw on it is perfect, not tight at all, kind of like the kayfun with the airflow screw completely removed, which is in fact what I've done on the kayfun. I've not felt the need to drill the holes. Might be different if I try dual coil. What benefit would I find with dual coil? I'm not fussed about vapour, but would I get increased flavour? But at the same time, I don't want to increase throat hit.

I found dual coils good for increasing vapour, and you can run lower wattages as well for liquids that like it. Downsides are: bit fiddly to get each coil the same resistance, and munches battery fairly quickly. Give it a go and see what you think.

If each coil has different resistance, what would be the downside of that, assuming that the overall resistance is half of the total of both coils?

You say it munches batteries, but would running lower wattages sort of make up for that a bit?

I'm hardly an expert but I find duel coils need more than a single coil just because the larger surface area takes longer to heat up. So you don't end up dropping the volts as much as you'd think.

I think if the coils aren't fairly closely matched then the power tends to go the way of least resistance and the higher ohm coil doesn't heat as much. Again I'm not really that technical about these things and I'm sure someone that knows ohms law better could tell you how it 'really works'.

Crowoet covered it pretty well. You end up with one hot coil and another luke warm, which is just a waste of battery. It is usually pretty easy, but microcoils can be funny if one coil splits out and raises the resistance when you fit it.

Ahhh it's been a while since I read this thread - it's good to see so many people getting into it. I threw myself in the deep and and spent a lot of money finding the right kit and making my own juice, just like overclocking, it becomes an obsession and I have no intention of 'getting off nicotine' I just stopped smoking and enjoy vaping. So I get my guilty pleasure without quite so much guilt. :)

Infact I upgraded my rig in part with money saved from vaping, now I just need to convince the missus but she objects......as you might expect. ;)

Does anyone else find the coils burning out fairly quickly (i.e. within 2-4 weeks?)

Anything that can be done about that? Been buying replacement coils but they're going fairly quick (imo)... or is the nature of them?

That is about their lifetime. The coil costs what 2-3 quid likely? (don't know what you are using) that is less than I spent a day on tobacco. The only other option is to build your own coils, you might be able to recoil what you are using or you can buy many types of rebuildable atties.

As Crowort said, if you atty can be rebuilt, do it yourself.
What are you using?

I can recoil a Protank (old single coil) for about 5p :D

I just learned how to recoil protanks the other day before I broke mine when i was drunk!!

I must say that a recoiled protank at 0.9 Ohms was a better vape then my £120 ROSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
