David Moyes disgracefully sacked

Roberto Martinez?

Would be incredibly ironic seeing as he would be coming from Everton, but in my opinion he's a top top class manager who will manage some of the largest teams in the world at some point.

lol rubbish. it wont. A decent manager could come in and win a trble for united and it will still not overshadow what fergie has achieved countless times at united. come on

Actually a treble in the first season definitely would have overshadowed Fergie's acheivements somewhat, by a decent amount in fact considering it took Fergie 3 years to win a trophy.

And do you really think a man as experienced and astute as Fergie genuinely thought Moyes was the very best man for the job? A trophyless manager with almost zero credentials at a major European club?

Do you really think a ruthless winner like Fergie would want someone to take over and immediately supercede his success?

You're totally underestimating Fergie's massive ego if you can't see at least at little truth in what I said.

.

Don't think it will happen now. I know there is no real difference between now and the end of the season but it makes no sense to do it now.

Seems crazy to sack him after not even one season in charge.

When you consider what a disaster it's been, it's crazy he's still in a job!

Very obvious what game is being played here by Man Utd. They want Moyes to resign, for $ reasons. Shabby way to do it, imo.

Bit harsh? Could Man Utd be trying to deliberately make his position untenable with these press briefings/leaks?

Poor David.

Why do people bang on about Klopp, ahead of say Simeone or even Spalletti?

I'd be very happy with Simeone, it's just Klopp is a bit more of a character so gets more attention. Klopp also speaks English well, not sure about Simeone, and I'm not sure about his contract situation either.

Seems strange to sack him with what 3 games left? At least you could say we gave you a full season. Nothing can be changed from now until the end of the season.

I for one hope this is just a wicked rumor and he stays in charge for many more season :D

Simeone has only really risen to the media limelight this season with Athletico's CL run and the title challenge, but is yet to win it (looks quite likely).

Klopp won Bundesliga two seasons running and then had the CL run so it's quite obvious why he has a higher profile with winning the league.

Spalletti hasn't really managed a high enough profile club in a high profile league nor had a fantastic european run for people to take notice of.

Yeah I think it's an odd time to sack him as well - not overly fussed, as long as he goes!

Really hope he does go, might just take the edge off the depression I will go into when 'Pool win the league.

I dont want the replacement to be some no-name who has never managed a huge club. We are the best. I expect us to hire the best.

Jose is busy.

United fans on here what a proven winner, especially after moyes. Martinez isn't that. He's won an fa cup but then so have lot's of other managers since it became a cup the top 4 only got interested in at the semi final.

I don't think after this fiasco someone whose won an fa cup will cut it.

With a club on the stock market then big news like the firing of a manager that can effect the stock price is the kind of thing that might require legally being told to relevant people before it happens.

They had to inform people before announcing Fergie's retirement and this could be no different. Of course, Glazers would likely be buying up every piece of stock before firing Moyes and watching the stock shoot up in value :p

Why do people bang on about Klopp, ahead of say Simeone or even Spalletti?

Because Klopp won two league titles, has already got to champs league finals? He's done every bit as well, maybe better than Simeone. They've gone off the boil a little in terms of being really competitive with Bayern but Bayern woke up and went crazy with who they bought and how good they got. Even against a weaker Bayern winning the league twice in a row was a huge achievement for the Dortmund side, as was reaching the CL final last year.

Difference is Klopp has won titles but is seeing his team being taken apart a bit, he's had some great years there and MAY be looking for another challenge now. Simeone is likely to face the same situation however they might well win the title, could even do a phenomenal champs league and league double. But most managers wouldn't want to leave a team at the very peak. if Real buy half their team and barca/others buy the other half and Atletico are crap next year he might leave after that but I can't actually see Simeone abandoning that team this summer. I think like Klopp he'll stay while they are at their peak and will consider leaving after a couple years of players being sold and not being able to be as competitive any more.

Of course he might stay there for life, who knows.

If Moyes has been sacked, surely there's some kind of clause in his contract about compensation the club has to pay him if he's fired within first 2 years of the contact say or perhaps if we're lower than 4th in either of his first two seasons? Utd can't possibly have given him a 6 year contract without some kind of get out clause that reduces the compensation they'd be liable for if Moyes was fired before the 6 years was up?

If it is true about Moyes then Giggs for the final four games? With Klopp, if possible, but if not all the talk is Louis Van Gaal for a few years until we can get Klopp. Would be nice to see Meulensteen come back and perhaps for Giggs to stay as coach or assistant manager. One of Moyes' biggest mistakes was getting rid of most of the senior coaching team like Meulensteen and Eric Steele so soon after taking over.
