David Moyes disgracefully sacked

Does anyone here actually believe that even Fergie would have won the league with the current crop of players? (not saying that he wouldn't have done better than Moyes!)

Moyes hasn't become a bad manager overnight, he's just been overawed by the task imo - started out badly by massively overpaying for Fellaini in a bit of a panic buy and went downhill from there with injuries to key players!

Stability has always been Man Utd's strength and I heard somewhere that Moyes never played the same starting eleven in any of his 51 games - doesn't sound too stable to me!

yes because fergy and perhaps david gill if that counts would have actually not made a gash of the transfer window

Mourinho won't go to Man U lol. He has a good squad at Chelsea, and knows it'll be better after the summer once we've brought in a decent striker.

Why would he move from a club which loves him to a 7th place team out of Europe with a rubbish squad?

Can Moyes really be credited with Rooney upping his game when contract negotiation time swings around and then rolling over and giving him a ludicrous contract?

He can be 'credited' with rolling over and giving him a ludicrous contract, yes. Although I'm assuming that was also a decision ratified by the board.

If you were to believe certain Man.U. fans it's the job he's always wanted, cried when he didn't get it last time, blah, blah, blah...

even lego are mocking him :(

It should have been:

Eh... He did, about 10 months ago with almost exactly the same group of players - by 11 points!

He might not have won it this season, but I guarantee they wouldn't have finished outside the Champions League positions if Sir Alex was still in charge!

Ehm because they are a massively bigger club?

:D

I think a lot of managers would love to go to United with their current squad and £200m to spend, even Mourinho. Mourinho seems committed to Chelsea though and if he did go to United he'd probably forever be in SAF's shadow.

I'll have a charity bet with you or any other Man.U. fan that JM doesn't become the next Man.U. manager.
£20 to the charity of choice if he does from me & £20 to the charity of my choice if he doesn't from you or any other takers? :)

Edit: Reduced to £20, not everyone has £50 to waste.
Well, if Jose was contacted by United for the job, I think he'd seriously consider it. It's the biggest job in football. Why wouldn't he consider it, the core of a PL winning squad is still here. New cb's and new cm's we'd be challenging for the title.

Deep down, we all know his dream is to manage Manchester United
He probably sold us Chelsea's best player for two years knowing he himself will be here soon aswell. ;)

That was moyes problem he had to much awe for utd and fergie and couldn't make the job his own. He was like a little kid in his dads suit in that position.

I think mourinho would have done better but then again I think most of us on here would have :p

So....no then!

Personally I think Man Utd massively overachieved winning the title last term given the personnel but that's another argument!

Without major investment in the summer last year I just can't see how Man Utd would have competed for the title irrespective of the manager!

Why doesn't anyone blame the players when a team loses??

Any team with Wellbeck, Smalling, Young, Cleverley and Fellaini as regular starters simply won't challenge for honours without the established players being rock-solid week-in, week-out! (Van Persie - injured, Ferdinand - disinterested and injured, Vidic - injury prone, the list goes on!)

There's a big, big, big gap between winning the league and finishing 7th. Somewhere in the middle would have kept Moyes in a job, he's missed every reasonable target by a country mile.

A title challenge didn't matter for this season, but some positive performances, showing he was building towards something, and the right attitude all did; he delivered on none of them.

Of course, deep down we all know that.

Imo the players let him down...
The only players who have seem bothered were rooney and de gea!!
RVP was the main reason manu won the league last season, and this season he's been injured a lot... however when he has played his attitude has been poor.

Think rvp had around 35 goals last season.. doubt he has half that atm.
