*** Xperia Z2 Official Thread ***

Got mine finally, NC headset is fantastic. Screen digitiser is noticable at very very close inspection, on par with my other current testers. Anything less than full white screen / high brightness and you can't see it though (well, i can't). It doesn't support exFAT, be ware - if you put an exfat card into it it seems to destroy the FAT table because it's done a number on my 64gb card, i put it back in my S5 and it's moaning the card is dead. Dammit sony.

Anyway, aside from that it's great. I'm gonna recommend people get magnetic cables though if you're like me and find the tabs a bit annoying. I got a Nilkin poly carb case and it does the job nicely for a fiver but I've used them for years so I don't expect less than the best from them. Stock apps are moderate, you can remove about 80% of them, I hid the rest. Can't find the free films though, I want to watch spiderman 1 :(

Ive had a look at my mates S5 and tbh it feels so cheap compared to the M8 or Z2. Dont think I could choose it over the competition.

Got a link to the poly case?

Well I hope I don't have buyers remorse.

I'm going from an Xperia S to the Z2 so hopefully it's leaps and bounds anyhow. I rarely have my S on full brightness as it drains the battery like a bugger!

Had this phone since Saturday, not quite sure if I'll keep it just yet. I have just noticed the digitiser now, indoors and in the evening! It looked quite bad while browsing this website on chrome, then I opened the same page in Firefox and couldn't see it at all, which is strange. Anybody else have a similar experience?

Yes! Digitiser is very visible! Pretty much invisible on my HTC One...and every other phone I have ever had.

I have a replacement coming tomorrow to see if it is just a manufacturing fault but if the new one is the same....I am not sure I can live with it.

Tbh me either.... Could you do me a favour and try another browser and see if it's still there? Or did you see the lines elsewhere?

I could see them pretty clearly on a white background or light background(light grey). Anything darker and it gets harder to see them. If you tilt it whilst the screen is off in the sun or a bright light it is as clear as anything. You can see the whole digitiser grid.

I have never had this on a phone before and I absolutely cannot see it on my HTC One.

No point in having a nice 1080p display if it just has a grid over it on light backgrounds : /

The screen is useless and too dim/washed out on anything lower than 75% brightness as well.

It does indeed have an OTG cable. Docks... well I'm 50:50 on it. The land of cheap china gear has it for a fiver, I ordered a couple of micro USB to mag doc connectors as I have a few phones to switch between (all of £1.70 each). It would be nice to have but the headphones have made it up to me but I appreciate this is personal.

I played about and can confirm that Jono's things are replicable by me - I can spot the dots of the digitiser if I catch reflection of a bright light. It's not noticable to me at all but I can appreciate if you're a fan of perfection then this might be a problem. My glass is perfectly aligned though and I find the sound good. General TX/RX is good across all interfaces (tested all wifi for client compatibility, BT is good) and call quality was great.

Sound out of different speakers is a bit odd, they might patch it. As commented, putting it on speaker does mean it's out of one speaker but I think it's to stop it affecting the mic or similar. I sat through a 10min VC with it, was as good as my workhorse office phone (4S) although I could put it upright and play with it at the same time.

I honestly think all the current gen devices have flaws and it would be folly for me to say this phone is perfect but I do enjoy it very much and would not try to put people off it.

Nillkin cases always are not complete protection, sorry I should have pointed this out. they cover sides / corners typically and have all ports exposed. This might not be what some want. Spigen cases (if they do a Z2) will probably suit you more if you want more protection.

I finally tracked down this phone Yesterday and had a two minute play/ hold. Many of the reviews I have seen showed when you held down the home button for Google now, it also had the option to go into a Sony service. A valid but ultimately minor complaint yet the one I played with didn't?.

For those lucky to have got there's. Can you please confirm this?.

Has anyone ordered from three received theirs yet?. I'm going to the Harry Potter studios on the 2nd of May and I'm desperate to have this phone for then?

Got mine yesterday and can confirm that it does have the option to go into the Sony thing as well as google now. Minor for me as I dont really use that service.

Interesting to see the issues with the screen as I have none whatsoever. Only shining a bright torch on the screen could I see the grid the rest of the time theres nothing there. Using Lux to control the brightness and its fine for me too...the first thing that gets commented on is how good the screen is in fact.

Battery seems really good too got it yesterday charged it for about half an hour was on about 80% been on it most of the time since then and its now on about 20% thats with changing settings downloading apps etc.

At the moment am loving it...feels so premium which is what put me off the S5 spending this much money on something you want it to feel good. Also love what they have done with Android very subtle but all the additions seem to work very well.

Annoyingly there are some Sony apps that cant be removed but thats pretty much my only gripe so far tbh!

Might have been a pre-launch tester chris, it has both on all models out of Vodafone. Not sure if this is a today thing but I just got my first wideband call on voda (AKA "HD Voice") so some of you might see these going forwards. Both masts were on the refreshed platform (4G site upgrade) so if you've been updated recently (you get 2 days of wonky service) you might be able to hear the difference soon too.

I am thinking of putting Cyanogenmod on mine when it arrives ( 2-3 weeks from now probably). Is it worth doing that?

Looking at the website, seems the device isn't supported yet. Eventually will be I assume.

Its totally worth doing if you're a hardcore Android user but there will be a massive drawback with doing this... You'll lose all the Sony proprietary features, no camera features, Battery STAMINA etc

Might be a better option just to flash a cooked Sony Rom with added features and install a 3rd party launcher and download the Google app suite (Dialer, hangout etc).
