Kiln dried sand and some weedkiller

Planning to dispose of a body?

I work from home ;)
£1 per post I RTM theophany is my main earner

Working from home is fun!!

I'm currently sitting here in my 'Jammies' listening to Harry Potter (read by Stephen Fry) whilst designing a housing for a Photomultiplier Tube in Autodesk Inventor!! :D

120k. Done nearly 200 miles in the past two days. :o

Paint work is in excellent condition, no real dings or scrapes. Inside smells nice and is clean. No rips etc.

No problems at the moment, touch wood!

How the hell did you get that for 150 euros? Has it been written off? Is it falling apart (suspension)? Does it need the cambelt changing? Does it have no service history?

Even if yes to all the above, that's a cheap car!

Had to buy a new copy of Mantronix - Needle To The Groove as the copy i've had from new the lead-in on the record had split for some reason

Record is mint but someone had coloured in parts of the cover but didn't bother me as have my mint cover to swap over

Got a full service history from Alfa Romeo up to 66k when it had a full service (belts, alternators etc)

After that nothing.

Guy recently put on:

I'm not sure when the cambelt needs changing, is there any way to see?

Either way it's only got to last me a couple months.

edit: guy was leaving country asap for a new job and needed it sold before he left, hence low price, including the half tank of petrol. Lovely fellow, seemed very genuine.

No not really unless you take it off and then you may as well replace it or if there's a bonafide receipt for the work.

They are very well known to throw the belt and lunch the engine which it'll mean scrap heap time for that car.

If you want a reliable motor change it now including the water pump and tensioner.

If you want to risk it then leave it but the risk is total destruction, possibly being stuck somewhere you need to be towed from.

It's got a full years NCT (equivalent of MOT) so I'm reckoning on driving it for a couple months then selling it if it works.

I reckon to change all the stuff is probably going to cost at least 500 euros, which is more than the car will ever be worth?

edit: I can probably get 120 euros in scrap metal for it, should it die a death before the allotted time, which mitigates some of the albeit small outlay. :)

Even at 150 Euros you'll probably get scrap value if it does goes. I guess it depends on how long you do really need it for, I'd be tempted to just keep everything crossed and ride the few months out, maybe if you find an inherent reason during those months to not keep it then do so, if the rest of the car seems solid and you can see yourself getting a fair bit more out of it, then go for the change.

If you're not going to then keep your ear out for a rattle, the belts very very rarely give way the tensioners fall apart and throw the belt off first.

And if it's a twin spark get used to adding 1ltr per 1000 miles of lovely selenia oil :p it's 'normal' apparently although some do and some don't, totally random.

ohhh, oil, knew there was something I had forgotten to check.... Never heard of Selenia oil. I'm guessing normal semi synthetic will do as per eurocarparts suggestion? :)

It's what the dealer used for my 147, I was using so much of it that he let me just top up my tin (it comes in a metal tin) from the barrel in the workshop.

It helped he was my landlord as well at the time.

I'm sure any make is suitable, it's very very thin though which might explain the usage :)
