The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

Hunters are my worst nightmare as Rogue, I started off playing hunter so i faced 3 hunters last night on my rogue. First two i lost because i wasn't aggressive enough and only had no more than 2 minions on the board at a time. Turns out none of them ever had an unleash the hounds all game and must have been at the bottom of their decks.

They just burned me down with steady shot and a few spells and before i knew it i was on 10 health.

So i said next time i play a hunter i will be super aggressive and dominate the board. By turn 4 i had 4 minions on the board and he couldn't summon a minion without me killing it next go.

So at lv 4 he uses bird + hounds he gets insane card draw and i'm dead. No matter how i played i could not kill them.

deadly poison and blade flurry are you best clearance against hunter and murloc decks i find,

just use you hero power or perditions blade once and then keep it there buffed by deadly poison with a blade flurry in your hand and you can wipe the board when they try to gain board control.

Never seem to be able to get the blade flurry when i need it tbh, i just faced a hunter 5 minutes ago and the same thing happened. I had 3 monsters on the field at lv 4 he used hounds + Buzzard and just got to far in front with the card draw.

I see. So its a bit of along winded process to basically build up your collection, disenchant and then get the specific cards you need I guess?

Yep pretty much, u wont get far without putting a few quid into the game imo. Starting from scratch and playing completely free will take quite a while to build even one decent deck.

If you get all your decks to lv 10 you get 100 coins which is a free pack. It is best to do this in casual mode so u get coins for winning games as well.

Stepping into the arena gives u a free pass the first time, basically every time u win in arena you get a better chance of loot and when u have lost 3 times it will give you the rewards.

I would stay away from arena now until you are comfortable with the game and know how to build a deck as you only get a choice of 3 classes to play and the deck building is random.

If you beat all the computer decks on expert you also get 100 coins, the paladin is the hardest and you should use a mage to kill him as your fireblast can just kill his hero ability so easily which he really relies on buffing up. You can kill him before he gets all the buffs with your fireblast.

If you are going to put money onto this game i would advise you to buy the 40 pack. I got lots of smaller packs and it all added to over £40 i would have been better off buying the £40 one as it would have added up to about 6 more decks for a cheaper price.

If you have no plan on putting money into the game these are the most popular classes now on ladder due to them being so easy. These decks are so cheap to make and can get u quite far.

This guy got to rank 1 EU and NA with this cheap hunter deck

Cheap Warlock Zoo deck which just spams low lv minions and can keep putting them out due to the warlock hero power of being able to draw an extra card every turn for 2 hp.

I hate this game sometimes... :D

I haven't spent any money but have all the common and rares, most epics and 12 legendaries. The only thing I've disenchanted is a gold pyro blast (when it was worth 1600 dust) and a gold kidnapper (which I now regret)

It's a f2p game. What do you want to sacrifice? Time, money or variety?

Time? Play/grind arena with your gold and use whatever you get from the packs in constructed. (Or constructed and buy packs with the gold)

Money? Spend a truck load on packs.

Variety? Disenchant everything for one constructed deck type. (a big waste of time or money)

Would love to try him, but I don't have him yet. Deck could definitely benefit from a bit more late game oomph :). Might also try Molten Giants, but not sure how good they will be in the deck.

You could try using the Shield Blocks to up your Life after playing MGs like the old OTK deck used to do. I tend to find Warriors life doesn't lower quick enough due to the armour building. Let us know if you find something that works.

Bah, I can't get away with playing this during the day anymore. My 6 year old son has managed to download this on his iPad and add me as a friend, every time I log in to battle.net he shouts "DADDIES PLAYING HEARTHSTONE!!!" and the missus sarcastically shouts "Have you no work to do?".

Haha, remove him from friends he will never know his dad turned his back on him!

What do you expect if you want to go completely F2P? Be able to craft all the legendaries you want after a couple of nights of play? Blizzard have to tempt people in to buying packs. They aren't running Hearthstone as a charity and need to pay for dev time, server costs, and make a profit on the operation as a whole.

Play basic decks, learn the cards, treat defeats as a learning process, it'll make you a MUCH better player in the long-run than someone who was just granted all the legendary cards.

Well Im not saying that Blizzard are not allowed to recoup their costs of course.
But Im sure there are some other ways?

For now I am playing and getting practice in, I truly suck at the moment :)

If you go back to the last page i listed the other ways to make some gold. It wont come fast thats for sure. I would recommend anyone that wants to have fun and play quite a lot to invest some money into it.

If you only want to play 1 or 2 games a day then u can enjoy it as a f2p game imo.

^ This + regardless of how much money you put in there is still a learning process and you will have to invest a lot of time too. A deceptively simple game that will actually take you months to properly understand.

I've still not spent a penny of real money, and although I am missing quite a lot of the cards I have enough to put together some reasonable decks. It's fun to work your way up and as mentioned above you need a lot of practice to get good regardless of your cards

You can learn a lot from watching streams on twitch.tv, i was able to ask a legendary rank player lots of questions about hunter and he always answered them for me and i learned from his plays.

The UK's premier HS team (ldn-con) are currently dominating the EU ladder. Looking forward to see what these lads can achieve internationally this year. They take it in turns to queue so as to avoid facing each other and maintain their positions.
