Behind you... Naked!
Aw bless. My HP Mini got a 1.8" Disk!

Well, ok, that was fun. I found a HP Mini today in a Cash Generator shop, thought sod it, Ill have it.

1.8Ghz Core2Duo, HP Mini... Looks nice, and looks looked after etc.

Anyway, a 120GB so sod that, I have a handfull of bigger Disks lying about, and so I decided to plop a 320 in there but oops! - its got one of those what are they ZIF Disks? - Anyway, kind of caught me out a bit here.

Couple of thoughts on this...

Firstly, what is the biggets disk in this format that I could get?
Been looking around and I can only find 120GB ones... Or less of course!

Swine!

Ok, now, what I have done with all my Laptops, is simply have done with the DVD and use dual HDs - So far, until now, I have simply used an SSD for booting and a bigger proper HD for the data. And I have had a bit of a browse and sure enough, even though the DVD is a slim 9.5mm job, this little sod can also swap the DVD for a second HD ( PHEW! )

Irritatingly, on a thin one mind you and all mine are thicked ones and so this means that I will have to buy another Thin Drive now.

This will allow me the larger storage for it of course, but Im now thinking seriously on this 1.8" drive... What are my options with them? Can I for example get SSD versions of them? looking found nothing really... I mean, I will be well chuffed if I could. Big ones I mean... over 320GB

Looks like anything bigger than 120-160GB on 1.8" ZIF is both extremely rare and ridiculosuly expensive - Toshiba do a few models under the MKxx33GSG line.

Definitely a ZIF 1.8" drive, and not just micro SATA? If it's the latter, you could possibly pick up an Intel X18-M SSD, they came in 80GB and 160GB capacities. At the time they were sometimes quite cheap due to low demand, they might be quite rare these days so not sure they'll be cost effective but it's a possible option if it is micro SATA.
