Awesome names that you never call your kid

I think you've misunderstood the purpose of the thread.

The thread went from "cool names you'd never call your kids" to just listing random crap and silly names within about 3 posts :p

There is a tactic were all missing here. Give your kids the cool name as their middle name. Keep the missus happy with something normal and boring for a forename, but should the kid grow up to be cool they have the option of the "cool name dad gave me". If they don't like it, blame mum :). That's my plan, daughters middle name will be Alyx and sons will be Tyler.

While we are on the subject of names. does anyone feel pressured to have kids because of their name?

my surname is McKenzie, im very proud to be a McKenzie. there is me and my sister. my dad was an only son so it falls to me to have a son to continue the name.

That's fine until you get a really embarrassing middle name and then you get married. Then everyone will be very aware of how embarrassing it actually is when they repeat it for what feel like a million times in front of your closest friends and family. So I would be careful about what you think you can get away with in a middle name.

Ha. Had this exact thing happen to my cousin. His middle name is Herbert. Almost nobody outside of his immediate family knew, and when the Vicar announced it everyone chucked, including the bride.

Don't you have an odd middle name?

A guy I went to school with called his kid Dante because Devil May Cry.

That's not too bad, if he wanted to be posh he could always say he was named after Dante Alighieri.

Some game names or ok, Rinoa for a girl works.

Me? Not particularly. My sister's middle name is Essex though.... :/

Jojo Magicspacemonkey. Someone changed their name to that. Formally, so it's their official name. It has a certain something, but I certainly wouldn't call a child that.

There is a lad at a school I work at called Blade.

If I have a son I want to call him Randy, the wife won't allow it though :(

QB for the Dolphins yeah? Seeing the Dolphins at Wembley this year.

The old QB yes!

Fantastic, I've got a season ticket this year so errm... drinks!? :D

The Greenman pub (5 minute walk from the stadium) normally has a really good tailgate if your stuck for places to go

Without twigging the X-Men character until later, we nearly gave our lad the first and middle names of Charles Xavier. Purely as my missus likes Charlie Brown and I went to Xaverian College in Manchester when I was younger. We didn't in the end but not that we thought the name was silly.

as young uns, me and the missus loved Dynasty with John Forsythe and Linda Evans, we both wanted to name our kids when we had them (imaginary girl and a boy) Blake and Krystal for fun,

when we actually had kids, our first was given 5 names to match me and the wife, all were hand downs from older relative's,

when we had our second daughter and then our son we decided we were going to do it, but couldn't bring ourselves to make it there first names, so we 'buried' the names in their 5 names.

they are,

Amelia Krystal Fae Hill-Reid
Cameron Ryan Blake Hill-Reid

when we tell people, they think were mad, and most of GD will as well ;)

My mum is a health visitor, one of the families she used to work with were obsessed with cars. I'm not kidding, their kids were called

Porsche
Mercedes
Ferrari
Ford

Really not joking.
