I'm getting that itch again..

I've currently been using a 280x, it's been decent but could have been better power wise.

I have (or had) a pretty sweet htpc. I7 2600, 7850, etc but if wasn't getting much used so I've sold the i7 and 7850, still have the case, mobo etc.

Also decided to just sell my 280x :o

My current spec is a 3570k at 4.4ghz (can go to about 4.6) - I have about £400 to now play with.

I'm either thinking a 3770k i7 plus a 290.

Or crossfire 290s? They would be reference, but I'm not fussed by noise.

I'm currently playing at 1200p so a little bit more than average but not huge. Opinions?

I would sell the 280x, keep your 3570k and get a 780. There is no point upgrading the CPU as the difference will be negligible with no real noticeable difference in game.

780 would be my choice, Ti if you can fund the extra.
 
What games will you be playing Defy? £400 is not enough for an i7 and a 290 or enough for two 290's.

Bf4, titanfall, watch dogs when it's out.

I can get two ref 290s for £400 delivered.

3770ks go for about £150 tops on the MM, get about £100 for my 3570k.

Edit tonester yes pretty much, I can't remember buying a pc part that wasn't on the MM. :p

Sounds like a plan i suppose. I have a 2700K and a 290 reference crossfire setup so if you want any specific (game or synthetic) benchmarks at 1200P or 1440P let me know and ill post them here. :)

Love me a good bargain :p You could be lucky though mate, and pick up a 3770k for £100, i did :D
 
Don't know if you're going to be looking at 2 290's for that money even used ref models are still going for over £220, I paid about £240 for one not long ago from that auction site. If you find 2 for under £200 each then grab them quick or pm me the seller info ;)
 
1440p is an option (at a slight later date) but I love my Dell u2410, selling monitors from personal experience is a pain unless someone is local.
