As someone who works in an office with big artificial lighting, when I go outside in my break and it happens to be sunny, I generally cry a river of brightness tears. Like, god can you turn the brightness down a bit?

As a result, I absolutely love it when it is nice and dreary :)

Does anyone else experience this?

And no this is not a medical thread, I just want to know if anyone else experiences the same phenomenon(nom nom nom).

Sadly i know the pain of crying like a girl when ever i go outside and it is bright but i have a simple solution sunglasses even in winter i have them on

I don't have our office lighting on. Thankfully I am generally in my own office with little to no-one around, so it doesn't matter so much that I like natural light.

I work in a drawing office with no windows and every time I go outside through the stores to the loading bay thing to catch a little natural light it makes my eyes sting with the brightness.

I'm not going to have any daylight at work for the foreseeable future :(
I've even gone as far as plotting an A1 size picture of an open window on a bright sunny day and stuck it to the wall, to no avail.
At lunch I generally go an spend a half hour sitting in my car, just to get away from the artificial lights and the computer screens in the office.

Can you not turn it off, or get alternative lighting for your desk? Makes a huge difference. :)

Unfortunately no :( the lights have a motion detector and timer for auto turn-off (can only turn them on manually), and they turn on in rows, so half the office would be dark just to please me (which wouldn't please the other 10 people nearby :p)

I hate it when it's hot outside at work, we're not allowed to have the windows open and the women still moan that they're cold.

It's bad enough when it's cold, all the rads on at a million degrees, no aircon or ventilation with an office full of pcs.

That's my biggest hate, the woman next to me has her heater on even in summer, it kills me.

I thought there are now laws that state the lighting in offices need to have similar output to daylight to stop eye strain of people in offices?

On a site I work at they recently spent a fortune replacing all of the lights and bulbs to ones that simulated sunlight.

Ditto!! The most annoying thing is that she sits there with one thin layer on her top half, and the heater on. PUT ON A JUMPER FFS! I have told her a number of times, I even pulled the fuse out of her heater's plug, but she figured it out. :(
