Get off the phone and DRIVE

I agree we need to be tougher on bad drivers but you can't single out mobiles specifically. So the guy who presses 'call reject' briefly and is spotted gets banned,

or he could just ignore and let it ring off on it's own.

There are lots of distractions on the road, I don't see why the law needs to treat mobile phones in some special category and why using one can't fall under driving without due care an attention.

Whilst you are not wrong, we are trained as part of our test process to overcome and spot hazardous conditions and distractions.. not create our own whilst driving. There is nothing that is that important that can't wait. There was life before mobiles tech.

Prolonging the distraction. Is pressing reject the lesser of the two evils?

Yes, this is true. There were also accidents due to distractions as well. A mobile phone is just another facet of the root cause of many accidents - distraction.

I dont see why people are so outraged at one element of distraction and not all the rest. For example having kids in the car. Having dogs in the car. Smoking a cigarette particularly if the burning end drops in your lap. Messing with the radio. Eating/drinking. Messing with the satnav. Talking with passengers. Listening to loud music. Gawking at the summertime totty. Rubber necking at the opposite carriageway.

The list goes on.......

If having a soft drink whilst driving is so bad why are these installed as standard in cars?

The same as this does more then the legal speed limit

Use some grey matter, eating/drinking/messing with stereo (otter than pressing 1 button to change station) /shaving /applying make up /phoning etc.
