Best budget phone?

Not sure what apps you mean, it's pretty much vanilla Android. Moto assist/migrate etc are the only ones apart from the standard Google apps that come preinstalled, and they're pretty useful.

After having had a couple of budget Android phones, namely the HTC explorer and the Huawei ascend y300, both of which felt like a budget phone, the Moto G doesn't - Motorola must be making a loss on these, just don't know how they are doing it for the price!

crap like the stupid office thing, I bet the ipod wannabe music app can't be uninstalled either or chrome

Quickoffice is a standard Google app, so is Google play music, and well, chrome is the standard browser (and damn good especially if you use chrome on desktop & other devices).

If you don't use them, don't use them. There not bloatware, I don't use Google play books or music and tv. You can disable them and it'll take them back to the factory app with no updates and zero data. Play music when disabled is less than 4MB in size.

Its one of the most stock, non-nexus device on the market.
Agreed, I have a nexus 7 2013 model and apart from a couple of apps its identical. I hate (with a passion!) Samsung touchwiz and htc sense, vanilla Android all the way for me.

I have a Nexus 7 2013 aswell. I'm not too bothered about Sense and Sony's offering. I think they add to the phone generally.

However, TouchWiz is an abomination to Android and definitely detracts from the overall experience.

okay I didn't realise disabling them back to factory would save so much space.

don't think I'll bother to root it now..

gah 4.42 update has stopped the phone notifications saying the phone is charging, the only way I can tell is from the battery info in the settings lol

Yes the Alcatel One Touch Idol S, £109.99 if bought in store but I called them up and amazingly got offered it for just £90.99 including free delivery by UKMail and they are an amazing delivery company, you can change the day its delivered easily online.

Which store was that?

And what's the battery life like?

Don't forget that it is 2 android versions behind ;) and It will probably never be updated..

True, but my current phone (a HTC Sensation) is miles behind that.

I'm not convinced that having the latest version of Android is that important. There have been some significant updates in the past but are forthcoming updates much of a step change or window dressing? Even old android versions are still functional.

As long as the phone works and meets my requirements (4G, battery life, SDCard) I'm not that bothered about being current with android...

Or am I missing something :p
