Taken from the gaf thread but stuff not listed in the patch notes

Stealth updates list:

-Notifications: New notification type: From PlayStation.
-System: Multi user login with a single DS4.
-System: No more log in screen when reconnecting the DS4
-System: When a game crashes you can now chose to attach a video clip in the feedback
-Settings: Option to enable sending in the crash reports automatically.
-Settings - Audio: You can now force the PS4 to output 5.1 channel audio over HDMI even if it detects 7.1 channel support.
-Settings - Video: Deep Colour Output.
-Share: Upload multiple screenshots to Facebook at the same time.
-Streaming: Comments/viewers notifications when you are in a full screen streaming.
-Streaming: You can still upload screenshots/video while broadcasting.
-Streaming: You can view comments without having to switch streaming modes

Now that the console has launched in Japan and is in cruise control mode, I expect big updates over the following months which include stuff like 3D for blu rays, showing you the amount of charge left in controller, more audio settings and support for audiophile setups like mixamps, etc.

They may never do that though because it looks like they are pushing their own inferior first party headsets

Why would having a plasma make any difference. I will be glad to dim mine to stop it reflecting on my LCD.
I was hoping for at least 3d bluray though.

only when you turn the controller/console on

1 hour into a gaming session, i still haven't found a way to check it.

if you know one which doesn't involve turning it off then let me know.

Plasmas have a glass panel in front of the PDP, as we all know glass reflects badly when there is light hitting it. This is why you can see your reflection in car windows on a sunny day, etc.

LCD's don't have a glass panel so they shouldn't reflect it tbh.
 
To check the battery life just hold down the PS button on the pad till that menu pops up saying close app, log out etc, battery life is in the bottom right. Would be nice if you could just tap the ps button to display it top right (like the ps3 does I think?), but yeah.

cheers I had been looking at the top of the screen like it showed on PS3, didn't realise it was at the bottom.

but yeah would have been nicer if they made it more like how the ps3 does it.
 
The battery indicator level had me for a while until I found you had to press the ps button longer to display a second screen.

Seems a big update from sony. I'll check it out when I get home from work this evening
 
I see that USB export features have been added but can anyone tell me if we can play media from an external USB yet? I'm at work so can't check myself.
 
Still havent setup touchpad mouse control for the browser - also seems impossible to get to broadcast settings without having to be in some app/game...

Actually you are probably right, kinda wasnt obvious as I wanted to test the HD broadcast settings - surprised the menu isnt replicated under the settings area though

I don't remember the PS Store starting that quickly, it's near instant now, that or it's all placebo. ShareFactory is also 971.2MB

Like I said earlier, they're focusing on refining and improving current features and smaller tweaks than adding major new functionality that hasn't yet even been discussed. If you're holding your breath waiting for media playback you'll have passed-out long before it arrives (if ever).
 
Another thing I've just noticed, before the update when inserting a disc and starting the game it'd read the disc at max speed from 30 seconds to up to a minute before calming down and going near silent again (did this since release). Mine no longer does this and just reads for about 4 seconds or so before going quiet again.

edit: as I write this I just heard the drive wind down even though it was quiet? Maybe it now reads at a slower spead? Or my disc drive is about to die haha... please don't :<

Also using the touchpad to write messages ain't half bad either :D
 
Wow 1.70 FW has kinda broken parties and stuff! Couple of recurring error messages and friends list keeps needed to be loaded for me. Games seem ok so far though...
