Saw this last night, If you liked or loved the originals with the clunky friendly robot who could shoot rapists in the balls and had a terrible yet endearing gum chewing companion..

Then don't bother.
It was dry, it was beyond awful. Sure it looked alright and the action was "ok" but felt like Robocop it did not.

You get to see ED209 for 30 seconds but they didn't get that right either.
This is less gritty, less action and no hilarious jokey commercials.
It tries to portray the human inside robo more than just be a robocop movie and it fails at that too!
Full of attempts at cameo's but fails to deliver! "I wouldn't even buy that for a dollar" comes to mind

Overall It was a 4/10, your average attempt at rebooting something that shouldn't of be rebooted. Okay if your bored but expect the Robo you love to die a little in your soul.

My mates all hated this so much - said it was one of the worst films they have ever seen.
My wife said it was decent enough for mostly boring.

I just skipped it completely and have never heard anything to give me a reason to watch it, Then again, I usually differ in opinion with my mates when it comes to movies but this still looks terrible.

I would say the same about most remakes/reboots.
The only remake I've ever thought added anything was The Bourne Identity. The original was just sooooo cheesy that Matt Damon's version was actually rather cool... although how he couldn't blatantly figure out he was an assassin from the outset is baffling!! :D

Figured it would be awful ... end of the day if the line 'Can you fly Bobby?' isn't in it, it's simply not cricket.

Dunno if I'd go as far as saying it's worse than Robo 3, but it was **** nonetheless.
Maybe **** is a bit strong... If anything, it was pure, concentrated meh.

What they got wrong.

The lead sucked
ED 209 looked so CGI it reminded me or the original stop motion tech
Wasted Samuel L Jackson in the pointless sub-plot
Wasted Gary Oldman, he would have made a great Clarence Bodicker (spit...I want my ******* phone call).
And former Batman's performance well....

Good

Gary Oldman
Robocop's wife (actress should have had more to do)
The credits...so I could walk out of the cinema...

Murphy's wife was terrible IMO. I don't know if it was just her script or if she really is a terrible actress, but almost every scene she was in screamed of daytime soap drama.

Oldman should've been the villain though (Someone should've been the villain anyway) and I have to give points for Samuel's wig. That was brilliant :D

I like a few ideas they had, such as going with a new suit and making him seem more human than robot unlike the original but TBH, in 25 years will anyone still remember this remake enough to quote from it like we still do for the original today?

If they were not going to make it memorable then what was the point of re-making/booting/imaging it. A huge waste of money, time and talent for me.
