The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I hate you. :p

P.S. How much has the whole thing cost you in £££'s? I REALLY want to go next year.

Its really not that expensive, I went in 2012 and the flights were only ~£300 return and Fanfest itself (including all the extra stuff) was like £150-£170 (early bird tickets are much cheaper).

The thing that eats money however is accommodation, any of the nice hotels anywhere near the centre of Reykjavik are quite pricey and you need to book WAY in advance to not get screwed, however there are loads of cheaper ~3 star hotels which cost buttons.

It's a really great event, Harpa is awesome and its just really professionally run, plus the extra events are amazing especially the Blue Lagoon (assuming they still do that). Reykjavik is an really nice city and has some great sight seeing as well as bars and restaurants. One of the nicest things is just being around so many like minded people.

So, I had a bout of nostalgia and reactivated my account for a month. First thing I noticed is there's now a dedicated mining frigate. From the stats, I'm pretty sure it makes the low-end mining barge obsolete.

Then I noticed that a lot of ships seem to have just about tripled in price. What the noodle? Seems they've added an "extra materials" section to blueprints just to force up the prices.

The venture is useful for dangerous areas and those without a lot of SP but doesn't really replace the low end mining barges once you've got reasonable SP in the relevant areas.

Economy and material prices changed a lot over the last year or so.

Dust 514 coming to PC as "project legion".

Most of the dust keynote announcements are improvements coming to legion. Very little movement in dust itself.

Much butte hurt from the dust playerbase, much rejoice coming from the eve playerbase, 50% excitement for the game, 50% enjoyment in the dust bunny tears of rage.

Can't wait to try project legion, its what dust should have done all along.

I have a feeling that CCP just made a very wise decision.

I went and looked at the statue before it had been unveiled, couldn't see my name at that point, however I've since found out where it is. There is a search tool around somewhere that says where on the tile it is, doubt I'll walk back over to CCP to get a photo of it though.
As for price, £95 (iirc) for the fanfest ticket, I should aim to pay with plex next time. The return flight from Bristol was £113 and the hotel was £626 for 7 nights which I've split with a corpmate. Beer is expensive most of the time (1000isk a beer - around £5.50) however lots of places have long happy hours where beer is 500. Food is quite cheap in restaurants, it just adds up when you do it for a week solid.

isk?? Is that with it being Fanfest? I thought Iceland used Euros...Well, I guess I need to find someone to split the room with now :D

Yeh I read some of the rage threads on the 514 forums earlier. Raging that the money they spent on dust is funding a pc game. Ironic really after us funding dust in the first place :P

I do hope they don't just screw over those guys though. Hopefully dust will be supported for a while and characters can be transferred to Legion.

Annoyingly I missed the dust keynote, due to a massive hangover. Eve keynote was awesome though, new ships, new warp effects and even the industry stuff seems nice!

Just to add, food in restaurants is actually really cheap for the quality. We went intoa nice grill restaurant earlier, 8 of us, food and beer. £200. Considering how good the food was it's a bargain.

Reading up on dust /Legion. So much rage on the dust forums! :o
Not sure what to make of it at the moment. Can't really believe ccp will be screwing them over that much.

Went to a graphics round table earlier. Showed some nice new features, should see some bits again in the art panel which I think may be on the stream?

Destructible stations/gates are a soon (tm) feature. No word on when, guess they're still looking at the game mechanics for it.
Tried Valkyrie earlier. Oh man, bloody awesome. Amazing immersion, can't wait till it comes out fully.

Fantastic set by Z-Trip...I'm going next year, don't care if I need to mug some grannies on pension day...I'm going!!

P.S. Gonna wear a propeller hat also...

Valkyrie is tied in with EvE?

From what I can tell no. Also Legion is a concept so they haven't got a clue how they will tie it in although they did say they wanted a single character across the 3. I doubt they know how it will work tbh. I just wish they'd spend all this money fixing EVE - I am not being funny but DUST was a cockup, WOD was a cockup, etc. They seem like a one-trick pony and I would rather my money went to fixing that pony because no matter how great Valkyrie may appear OR is untested and unreleased and most likely will hardly have the largest uptake and by the time Valkyrie is out we will have Elite Dangerous and maybe Star Citizen (which seems very behind and worrying in other areas) to play for the same experience.

They had to do something with Dust. It is linked to Eve which still has many years to go. Where as Dust is a console game on a last gen console.

It either needed to be scrapped, be remade for the latest console or be moved to the PC.
