I'm looking at buying a new desktop (I'll probably end up swapping parts in the future), but for the time being, I'm just wondering wether this rig will be able to handle entry level stuff. That means games like DayZ/Standalone and Mod, and Source games, but on low settings (if necessary) but I don't mind turning down the settings a bit;) here are the specs...

AMD FX-4 4170 BLACK EDITION 4 CORE 4.2GHz Processor
4GB Crucial RAM
Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD
650W Power Supply
Gigabyte 970A AMD DDR3 Motherboard
Asus HD 6670 SILENT EDITION 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Thanks in advance :)

I'm buying it from a friend for £300, but he spent like £600 on it. The PSU is an OcUK Battle 650W Dual Rail High Efficiency Modular '80 Plus' Power Supply [CA-045-OK]. So does that mean it won't run?;)

hmm I would probably save up £100 more and build a system yourself that would be much better than what your friend is selling

I doubt he spent £600 on it, for £400 you can get a better CPU, GPU, HDD, PSU, RAM etc like I said you are better off building your own

Here double the RAM and HDD and it's new.. Could go for some B grade parts if you really wanted to try go on the cheap.

Just add a decent graphics card i.e. R9 270X for £149. Could also go for an i3 CPU instead for an extra £40 if you're gonna keep splashing cash on that shell anyway.

Really not worth spending circa £300 on that junk, it isn't upgradeable.

By the way, did you check that all these parts are compatible?

Check they are compatible? Pah you don't know who you are talking to! :p

Of course they all work together.

If you do plan on building your own spec, I would come back here with a budget and what you want and I/we could tweak the one I posted above. :)

Hahah;)I apologise;)

So if I had a £500 budget (including £70 monitor, so like £430), and I wanted to play online games on any graphic option, low or ultra, I don't mind. What would I be looking for/at?

and don't forget £70 for the OS if building a new system
£70 for a monitor, you'll be looking at £100 min
so that leaves you with £330 to play with
