*** Xperia Z2 Official Thread ***

Looking at ordering the Z2 this weekend as my trusty S2 died recently and fancy a change from touchwiz, not overly fond of the look.

Are we able to discuss online deals/stores here? Found a couple of deals online I think are good, just wondering if certain place may be dodgy to purchase from.

The best place to get it from is three.
The screen is perfect on mine.

Looks good. Whats that girly string on the corner ;)
Cant have it falling now can we :p

Can you do a test for me? Sit so the Sun is pointing right at the phone screen. Then tilt the phone - is the digitiser visible?

Its only visible in extreme sunlight. Similar to what the xperia arc had. Doesnt bother me.

That other problem with seeing a grid on white backgrounds in non existent.
jono said he could see a grid in the settings menu.

If thats what hes talking about then i dont even.. :o

^ I don't even know what that is you have pictured there.

I could see the digitiser grid on a white/light background and the digitiser grid was very visible outside looking at the screen from any other angle other than face on. It was very distracting when using the camera outdoors especially.

It wasnt very obvious indoors but if you looked for it you could see it (not just me, friends and family could see what i meant when i pointed it out) It isnt a big issue no, but it is a case of "what has been seen.."

I have never owned a phone that has had a visible digitiser like this and i intend to keep it that way.

If you love it so much and it doesn't bother you then good for you.

The screen is everything for me in a phone so this was a big no no for me. Sorry.

Its the settings menu with a grid background. Isn't that what you were talking about.

No ( my settings page didn't have a grid background) that obviously isn't what i am talking about.... I was talking about seeing the actual digitiser grid on the screen when there is a white or light coloured background.

It isn't hugely obvious but when you look for it you can see it and then as i said "what has been seen can't be unseen" comes to mind.

I imagine this whole digitiser grid may not bother most, which i can understand. In my opinion it isn't good enough and i would rather have a phone that doesn't exhibit this.

Do you think we can see this grid? Im sure if it was like you say it is then a lot of people here would be just as annoyed. Ive looked for it and its not visible on my device.

The default theme has a grid background though. Could you see the grid on a blank chrome page or was it just in the settings?

On mine the default settings theme did not have a grid background.

Also, yes it was visible on all pages with a white/light coloured background

I don't know. I am not you. :p

A lot of people have reported it on this and other forums (at least the outside/in a bright environment visibility of it).

Maybe i just have very good eye sight but i could see it on both devices i had.

If you can't then good for you. Enjoy the phone!

Well I got my phone in time for my (working) break away down to the Harry Potter studios.

I have since returned home and have just watched some of the videos taken on my 24" monitors and I am not impressed at all.

The photos were in superior auto. I know that manual results will definitely give superior results but reading reviews I came under the impression that it was far improved over the previous models. I dont think my S3 would have been any worse.

The videos where shot in 1080p with steady shot on with mostly point and shoot videoing. Entering the Great hall, the phone struggled with focus but I suppose with many people in front of the lens and myself purposely directing the phone to the actual hall exteriors, I can be a little forgiving.

It all looked great on the 5.2" screen but on a 24" monitor it looked blurry and noisy. Granted it was dealing with some varying light but all shots within the Studio were not upto par imo.

A couple of shots of St. Albans Cathedral and within especially were just as disappointing.

I like the phone. Jury is still out on the Battery life for me but I am starting to think I fell for the hype hook line and sinker.

Disclaimer lol: I am in no way an expert in photography. I am definitely a candidate for the average point and shoot mobile user.

Yes, should arrive this week, along with a 64gb micro SD card. Phone is dispatching on Friday. Upgraded my delivery, hoping it comes on Sat.

Where'd you get it from? I wouldn't mind a 64gb card also as I primarily use my current phone for music and expandable memory is something my Xperia S didn't have.. Need more room! :)
