Its a GTS 450, do you know what that is? its baisically like an Intel iGPU. and not even a good one.

His mistake is running everything on just about full settings at 1080P, in doing that sometimes he's getting smooth FPS sometimes he isn't.

The point is he is getting a lot more performance on that GPU than he should.

And because of Fraps, that would have knocked a good amount off his scores even with Vsync.

Did he?? Thought he went from a 7870 to 290p? He never took us up on what would have been a free 780 (that fund was like £200 quid?)
 
I hope I know what a GTS 450 is, I've used one (The first Fermi card I used in fact), the guy says "No slow downs", exactly while there's a medallion swinging in single digits. SEEMS LEGIT.
Some kid handed me his rig, the 450 and some money so I could house them in a new case.

You don't seriously believe i was ever going to take peoples money, people who i don't know from Adam, it was a nice gesture, but no.

I had a 780 to test before i got the 290, the 780 is a good GPU, i have nothing bad to say about it, i respect it, personally i prefer the 290. thats it.

  1. The video was recorded 10 months prior to the GTS 450 tests. That implies a couple of things: drivers used are much older (no "miracle driver" at play here. The initial benchmark is using an unpatched version of the game.
  2. FRAPS is being used for recording the benchmark in the video you posted. That cripples the fps by at least 15-20%.
  3. He uses an AMD CPU.

It's obviously crap, otherwise Nvidia would have stayed on 40nm GPUs and reaped the benefit of the cheaper process technology.

They also wouldn't have released the GTX 480 either, since it ran incredibly hot, used a lot of power and required careful die harvesting despite disabling 32 shader cores. If they could've churned out GTS 450 dies to match comparable AMD offerings they would have done so.

He's comparing Greg's Titan run to the 780 run that you linked to.

Personal experience is something else, i tried out the 780 before i ended up with the 290, the performance was pretty lack lustre, it would also choke whenever there was compute rendering going on (The FPS would tank), huge CPU bottlenecking on it, as reference it ran hotter than than my Custom 290 which never gets past 70c and it soon ran into GFX corruption when overclocked, not a nice card at all.

That doesn't look like you had nothing bad to say about it and you said you bought it new but you have not been able to buy a Asus 780 reference card for months ;)
 
How disjointed is that? i don't even know how those two sentences relate to eachother, would you explain? ^^^^
