Cheap 2.0 Speakers?

I don't think my neighbours would really care about that - They'd still come round with shotguns if I played something bass-heavy at top volume!! :D

Seriously, these things are great... that's why I bought them, too!!

Yes they are great! As mentioned I own 2 sets, however I have also purchased 2 more sets for family (thats 4!) got them every time on offer :)

Back to the low frequency end, it's just at the very low end. Not a fault of the speakers as no speakers in this category would provide frequencies this low anyway!

I run two passive 1600T's from a Edifier 530. The bass unit from the 530 provides mild fill in for above.

Feedback sounds good. Does anyone have pictures of them in a real-world setting? All the ones on image search seem to be studio shot.

I may take a pic for you tonight.
My set-up isn't exactly ground-breakingly impressive though and I have the mesh covers on, so they will just look like little black boxes on my desk...

Well OCUK put them on offer mere days after I bought mine at full price, SO THERE!!! :p

Oh... wait..... :D

The Mrs is considering a set for her iPod thing downstairs. I tried them plugged into my phone while watching a movie and the sound was great, but the effect very weird!!

Thank you - that would be great if possible. I really want to see how the grain effect looks in daylight really.

Checking the specs between 1600II and 1600III.

The 1600II have a low frequency response of 66Hz, the newer 1600III have a low frequency response of 30Hz. This ties in with what I was saying above about the 1600II lacking in the very low frequency range, looks like it's corrected somewhat in the new version of them.

Still not sure how much bass you'll get from a 4" woofer no matter how far down they claim it will go. Ironically I just switched over to headphones because the bass (of my 1600T 2's) was a bit much for 3:30am in a flat :D

Indeed, I've love to know how far from rated sensitivity that 30Hz comes in. Assuming it plays at any real audible level at all of course.

My 8inch dedicated home cinema sub woofer only hits 33Hz at -6dB, so a driver half the size in a relatively cheap set of PC speakers certainly isn't going to be doing 30Hz at anything like an acceptable volume level.

I'm sure the speakers sound fine and all, but I feel it really discredits a company when they post ridiculous claims in the specifications. People just need to remember that quoted frequency response numbers that don't include any volume information are 100% worthless.
