To reduce potential data loss, the Intel SSD 320 Series detects and protects from unexpected system power loss by saving all cached data in the process of being written before shutting down. The Intel SSD 320 Series also offers an array of surplus NAND flash memory should the controller encounter a faulty NAND array - the drive automatically reconfigures itself to reduce potential data loss.

Samsung 840 EVO can be had cheaper and the Intel is an old sata 2 drive so not that great of a deal, £50 would have been more like it.

I can't decide if this is good. It's a great price for an intel drive, especially based on its pre-sale price but... They're old tech drives, and stories of intel consistency and reliability aside there are other drives at this price point with faster speeds.

Besides, how many 830/840 drives have failed in comparison to the 320/330s?

Abarass did you find any old SATAII SSD's in the stocktake? I have an old machine that I need a new hard disk for and would put an SSD in it but the motherboard only has SATAII. Do you have any do you know? I feel a SATAIII would be utterly wasted in it. Anything 120GB+ would suffice.

The Intel is sata 2.

A premium for what? the Samsung evo is way better and has the same warranty.

For my wifes lappy though where speed is irrelevant I would rather she didnt suffer SSD death.... And intel SSD's are the most reliable.. For a speed merchant , yes, they are not the best.. If you just want a rock solid SSD, intel win... And that is what most people want.

In all honesty can you tell the real world difference between the latest models? I cant..

But the reliability. A drive that'll last 10 years against one that'll last 8, which you'll probably outgrow and sell on before it gets anywhere near croaking.

I feel a bit cynical saying that admittedly, but save for cheap OCZ ssds I've never had a problem with one.

Come on guys you can't moan about this one for christ sake.

Agree, rare but short of getting one instead of Haribo with something else this is good, as for speed, the benchmarks do not lie, the real use is another story, all SSD's rock compared to magnetic drives! (This one just so happens to keep working for ages!).

speed wise you may have a point but reliability this one is a banger will be perfect upgrade for a laptop.
