Bear with a me a second, but is there not the possibility that MORE jobs could be created as a result of the Euro going?

I mean take SEPA for example. It's all streamlined now, which further reduces the need for some jobs.

Having the need to process more transactions and currency differences might actually create jobs?

Also, I think it's important for countries to have a bit of individuality. :)
I don't really know, I just don't see it .

I don't disagree that its important for countries to have a bit of individuality. That's an important part of who we are.

You want to see recessions, destitution, wide spread poverty, mass unemployment, major panic riots and whatever else the collapse of the EU would bring?

Why?

I am sure that giving up crack hurts too! But it is a bit bizarre to use that to argue that crack is good for you!

If indeed a break up of the EU would have this result then this is pretty proof positive that the EU is a far too precarious and unstable thing to be a part of and that we would be better off leaving of our own volition ASAP rather than waiting for the collapse!

The EU, the political project which turned the bloodiest region on this planet into one in which war is unthinkable, can be compared with crack? I disagree but I do admit that whatever you are on must pack one hell of a punch.

I doubt she had a sudden epiphany. Her views changed over time but she couldn't express those views until she quit.

Haven't you ever had a job that you hated? Did you go around telling everyone at work that you hated it or did you wait until you'd quit before telling everyone?

2 weeks previous she was on c4 singing ukips praises. Maybe she was lying? Shallow self serving lying politicians? Never! She will go far.

Why don't they replace Ed with Andy Burnham.. he looks far more prime minister like than bumbling Ed.

No leave the dork there they have no chance with him. They picked that brother as they didn't think Tories would turn the economy round so quickly and didn't want to waste David miliband on an election that didn't expect they wanted to win. But economy is back to growth and they are stuck with Wallace, lol

The similarities being the constant bailouts the poor eastern and southern states seem addicted too.

What I can't understand is why do all the main party's lack a potential candidate with at least a touch of charisma.

As much as I don't agree with the fact people vote based on appearance & how the candidate comes across - I'd wager if Labour picked a new leader with loads of charisma/charm & wit they would sky-rocket in the ratings & the next election would be a done deal.

UKIP is riding off the back of the leader who isn't even likeable - just more memorable than the rest.

Because charisma requires a strong element of conviction. Also personality represents the party and it seems long ago decided that neutrality is key.

Conviction politicians have become very unpopular and seen by parties as a liability. As parties scramble to remould their leaders into whatever it is that wins support at any given time, a leader with charisma is less likely to be controlled by the party propaganda machine and therefore would be shunned. With the advent of global social media, a politician who simply says the wrong thing can cause chaos for a party, and the one thing about charismatic characters is they tend to be passionate and will therefore be at higher risk of saying the wrong thing more regularly.

It is just my guess, but I think it really boils down to maintaining party image, and a large element of that is damage limitation. They want people who will do as they are told.

I like Nigel he is a breath of fresh air.

It's kind of as badcompany pointed in post 750. Even if you were to point out that UKIP lie, are mess internally and create a lot off mess externally, people who support them just don't care.

There is very little you can do or argue with to change minds of people who vote separatist and fringe parties like BNP and UKIP. It takes specific mindset and outlook to believe in Little England myth, to support separatism and believe that selective or full on xenophobia is OK in second decade of 21st century. And such mindset is very immune to reason, facts or figures. Most of us look outside of the window and see flourishing multinational country that needs to integrate so it can do better in the future, they look outside and see trenches, wasted lands where Empire once stood, landscapes spoiled and their old town swarmed with alien faces plotting in tongues. But who did it to oos? Who broke me England they ask. Who is to blame? "It is the ewww's!" says Nigel. "It's them ewwwropeans sent by Brussels, but look - beyond the cliffs of Dover, that dust, that mist above dirty France, that's humongazillion of them towing their caravans to the gates of Blighty!" What do they want Nige? "They want to take what's lawfully "ours" by "birthright"! They come to take your spongy white bread with sugary beans from your mouth. They come for your bangers and mash. They come to remove all the sinks with two taps. And they carry the chaos of terrible legislations with them, the lower roaming fees, the longer holidays and less working hours, the works. And worse yet, all of their incomprehensible measurements are devisable by 10!"

So it takes an outlook. And a stance. And a need to justify prejudices, to have support, to be xenophobic and close mined in a crowd. And Nigel provides just that. And the only way for UKIP to survive is to be in EU parliament. Because it's the only funds they have. And so they will go and not do their job again for half a decade, not turn up to meetings and vote against common sense. And it would be funny, and a good way to rub major party noses in protest vote, if it wasn't actually affecting economy and people's lives.
