Kidney Stones

Hmm. I wonder if the pain compares to the pain I went through when I cracked my L1 Vertebrae.
If it does I would pass out.. when I broke my back I was in and out of it cus the pain was so much my brain seemed to just say no and put me to sleep lol

Didn't see a thread for this but I had one about 5 weeks ago. OMG I've never felt pain like it. If I have a headache I rarely take painkillers I just try to sleep it off but this was absolute agony. Never had one before but I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I too rated it 8/10 on the pain scale. Lord only knows what 9 or 10 feel like.

I'm not sure I've passed it yet though. :( No pain when I pee and I haven't heard anything in the pan when I've been peeing either. As someone also said above a lady at work had one and said she'd rather give birth again than have another Kidney stone. Highly NOT recommended. Morphine is a wonderful drug though. :D

One thing that really staggered me was it was virtually impossible to get a drink of water in the hospital, I asked twice but it never turned up, I would have thought with kidney stones they'd be encouraging you to drink not making you try to survive for 12hrs on 500ml (to be fair the drip in the morning would have kept me hydrated but even so I felt really thirsty during the day)! Thankfully my wife brought me a couple of bottles.

Tell me about it, I had to go to costa coffee to get a drink and get my friend to bring me some diazepam because the hospital staff had left me for hours with no water after nearly collapsing, when I did return to my bed the nurses hadn't even realised I'd been gone!

Morbid curiosity setting in... pics please! :D

You asked...:D

Since we are doing stone pics, here are my 242 gallstones which they recovered from my bile duct and gallbladder in 2000. Biggest was 13mm across and the bile duct is 5mm. Ouch. I still produce them directly in the bile duct :(

So another week, another UTI and some more anti biotics. 7 stones passed in one hit last night with some added blood as well.

Last nights episode actually put me on my knees while in the middle of emptying my bladder. Never had that before....

Time to get on the phone I think...:(

As far as I know, the best options are simply to drink just water (before you get a large stone). That is meant to flush the kidneys nicely of all minerals before they can merge/bind/mineralise together.

When you see some stones, they can be insultingly small - some like a grain of sand, yet the discomfort they can cause is pretty unreal.

Might be getting mixed up with Gallstones here, but I was surely that a diet of lots of dairy, and minimal water is asking for trouble from both types of stones.

I had a dodgy experience a while back with some lumps in the jewels, which the Doctors sent me for ultrasound scans for as well as a few other tests. Since then, i've only ever drank water and natural fruit juice. Only drink alcohol about 2-3 times a year.

Might not be the highlight of a party, but at least i'm trying to keep healthy !

If anyone wants natural remedies/pain relief - milk thistle (daily, mornings), rosemary (use when cooking as often as possible), and apple juice (daily, once or twice), are working wonders on a friend of mine who had experienced awful attacks constantly. Apart from eating/drinking healthy and exercise. It's not just an old wives tale that my friend lucked out on. They did a lot of research on this, and experimenting. And the above is what is working best.

Drinking a small bottle of apple cider vinegar, if experiencing an attack, can greatly shorten it. If you have problems with kidney/gallstones, keep a few bottles around the house, and always take one with you when you go out, for emergencies.

I took a home brew remedy when I had stones & passed mine about 3 days later after 8 months of Hell.

Can't post it here though as it's against the rules. :p

It's just a little mix I found on an American website, Had about 100 replys stating how it helped etc so I tried it & it worked.

Is there any way you could provide a good clue as to what it is, so others can find it, please?

Sorry mate I'd love to Help I really would but I have a recent infraction so would be instantly Sussed if I broke the rules so soon after.
No Medical threads/Advice etc :(

I can't even post a link as it would be seen as giving Medical advice, Sorry All.

What I can say is if you search around you should find it easily via Google. It is only 2 things mixed that are readily available. Not only does it relieve the pain but it makes passing them much much easier.
I should know I suffered in Agony 3 days out of every 10 from a Feb to Sept, found this mix used it & passed them 3 days later.
The worst of it was that I had my Specialists appointment about 5 days later or summit, ******* Typical. + :p
