Rexi-L? I have that, it's my main tripod and is really excellent!

It's the Maxi-M, I wanted to go as small and light as possible.

Didn't realise they did one even smaller!

What is that?!

Final stage resistor for my car's climate control. The original one is renowned for failing and almost all heating/cooling faults fall down on this thing called the "Hedgehog". Gotta spend an hour or 2 replacing it tomorrow now!

The infamous hedgehog arrived today.

Is that the uprated item, Mrk?

I've got to sort my heater blower out at some point as it makes a chirping sound at low fan speeds, don't envy the fiddly job of changing that FSR :o

'scuse the Lilly White Legs!...

New Schoooooz! to come with me to 'merica so I don't get immensely sweaty feet walking around NYC :D

I think all of the ones you will find online these days are uprated vs the original OEM part :p You'll know the original BMW one when you see it, has thicker rounded fins whereas the updated ones have flatter shorter fins. I opted for Meyle as a brand I recognise (eBay listings put them up as "German manufactured" :)

I had to replace the same part on my XJ: they're also renowned for failing on them as well. Part was cheap but an absolute nightmare to fit, was one of those things that seemed simple in theory and was anything but!

I have the other manfrotto tripod in your shot there (3401?). Great for out and about, but by hell does the head wobble/droop. No good for windy landscape shots!

Would be interested in your opinion of the ultramaxi, as I'd love something as/more compact but sturdier! Where did you get yours if I can ask, and is the head solid enough to hold a gripped DSLR do you think?

Went through the whole compact travel tripod exercise back in February.

Have a look there, I've looked into some of the best ones on the market, budget be damned, even considered the £700 Gitzo!

Go on holiday tomorrow to Spain, needed a watch I did not mind losing or getting smashed.

£8 delivered thank you rainforest.

Have to say I was quite excited to get it, usually wear a tag or a nice accurist but something nice about going retro.... made a error of not realizing it wasn't water proof though.

I've had one of these as my travel watch for years. Been swimming (falling) in the sea/river with me loads of times. Still going strong. Mine came with a free mini maglite aswell.. from a high street catalogue store

The Manfrotto (MKC3-H01) in the shot is my housemate's so I haven't used it much but I'm not sure if the Manfrotto you have has had a lot of use or is maybe faulty as the ball head on his Manfrotto is very solid when it's tightened up.

With both the Velbon and the Manfrotto I can fling the tripod around whilst holding the camera and neither of them budge a bit.

I thought about getting the Manfrotto myself as I was using a creaky old Hama which works fine indoors but I wanted something for out and about.

I do like the Velbon much better than the Manfrotto for the following reasons:

*Smaller
*Lighter
*Feels sturdier as the lower sections of the Velbon aren't so slim
*The legs have much more movement and are very versatile so you can get very low without inverting the main column

It is a little shorter than the Manfrotto though.

Moved away from a home server running in a huge case to using an old MacBook and Mavericks Server so needed somewhere to put all the storage.

It's USB 3.0, but the MacBook ain't. Still does the job anyway.

Ah I see - always thought people were still selling the standard type but some enterprising company was selling an uprated part that negated the need to have to replace it again :p Not yet had to do one thankfully.
