Conservatives? The party it's cool to hate.

Hardly, it's just that unless you live inside a wealthy circle everyone knows people who are suffering under Conservative policies, so to say you support them is like saying you support burglars... both cause untold losses/suffering one of them just does it legally.

the country is better off, we are making a dent in the deficit and more people are in work.

A dent in the deficit.. oh my is it worth all of the suffering they are causing? we're still massively increasing our national debt and the unemployment figures are fiddled beyond belief, there are probably millions of people working in Poundland etc for benefits who are counted as employed, having to resort to foodbanks etc.

How many people do you know personally who are actually suffering

I'm not voting again, simple fact that I can't as I have no faith or trust in any party to do right.

The country needs a shake up to be honest. The people who work for this country need to be rewarded and those who don't contribute need to stop being rewarded.

Pretty much how I feel too.

Just voted. Blimey the ballot paper was like 2 feet long with boxes the size you could put 4 postage stamps in.

Wasn't very secret to be honest, I could plainly see that everyone was voting UKIP why I was in there. You couldn't have missed it.

You need to make cuts to get money back you know

That's one approach but not the only approach. You can make cuts and/or generate more tax revenue.

Generating more tax revenue could mean stimulating the economy or it could mean increasing taxes.

I'm 34 and I have never voted in anything but a couple of local elections. I have been known to spoil my ballot in the past however.

I think the modern western world is trapped at the moment. The next big political idea has yet to arrive in the consciousness of the average person. We are still just playing out the continuation of the post cold war 20th century and don't want to let it go.

Look at the revival of all things retro lately. We take digital pictures on our smart phones and use filters to make them look old and analogue, music is borrowing heavily from the 80s and 90s but no new genres are emerging. UKIP is another strand of this; a way for people to cling onto the ideas of the past because nobody can give / see a better vision of the future. I feel we have painted ourselves into a corner somewhat, left and right has been replaced by management consultants and performance targets. I want to be inspired to vote, but the past shows us political inspiration is often dangerous. So for now we are trapped in a status quo, where the idea of the individual and what the individual can attain is the current vision for society. The "selfie" is about as close you will get to a radical new youth movement these days...

I believe it will be a technology breakthrough that sets the next path for us and a new vision for the West but until then I can’t imagine I will vote. I wonder how people will look back on this time in history…

Proof never heard this before.

Herodotus basin, leviathan field, Google oil and gas East Med deep field/s, "bankrupt" Greece has more hydrocarbons than Iran, basket case Cyprus should be undergoing a massive boom, I actually considered moving to Cyprus 8 years ago when I heard about this but I guess the bigwigs are clearing the decks before exploiting this asset.

In fact the fields border Libya, Egypt, Gaza/Israel, Syria, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece and Italy, quite an interesting group of countries all being financially or physically raped.

Thankfully no-one I spoke to at the polling station was voting UKIP. In fact, a lot felt motivated by UKIP's campaign to come out and vote... for someone else.

This is in a fairly affluent part of London.
