Don't change to fire until you get some fire items, just try for magefists, andariels, bracers with fire, amulet with fire, burning axe of skankis, SoJ with fire. Can get over 100% but obviously it can take a long time to achieve that.

What do you mean doesn't need much? The more you have the better especially if you want to move your way to higher torment difficulties. Also magic missile shouldn't be your main damage output to focus on it's a primary spell that doesn't deal that much dps.

Fire is pretty strong for most classes i think atm? i know Wiz, Crusader and Barb are all strong t6 viable with fire builds. Dont know about WD, i would guess Cold / Physical for them?, not sure on Monk / DH either, what it does highlight though is the over abundance of +fire% dmg gear thats available, dont think any other element gets close to the amount of +fire you can stack does it?

Fire only really has one more piece available than some other elements like Cold and Lightning (discounting anything class specific like an Won Khim Lau) so it's not really an abundance of fire gear, it's just that Cindercoat and Magefist are amazing items and completely blow any other comparative item from another element out the water.

Tom as you climb higher torments you need to factor in +elemental dmg and +elite dmg to your builds to have any chance of surviving, unfortunately the game becomes a DPS race, kill the mob before it kills you lol

Yeah I'm aware of that. :)

My gear isn't really that focused around frost damage that's why I was thinking it wouldn't make much difference if I just switched to a fire build.

This is my gear and build at the moment:

True in some respect, but you will find a few of the elements really lack options, like Holy for instance, how many +holy 2h have you seen? i know of a couple of 1h, same with cold, any +cold 2h?

Some of the elements are woefully under itemised i feel personally, unfortunately blizz has said they dont intend on making different element versions of Cindercoat etc.

I do wish they would though, atleast make other elements unique on say shoulders, boots, legs etc, like a Leg version of cindercoat but poison, or a should version of frostburn etc.

I'd agree, other elements need more gear. I was disappointed when they said they will not be adding any other non-Fire variants of a Cindercoat because it's meant to be unique. I get that they want unique items, but they need to balance out the elements more - such as adding shoulders, or pants, or another slot with a unique type of item with an additional element. Need more items like a Lidless wall and Andariel's Visage and every element needs one % damage 1H and 2H.

Of the items that can be rerolled to all elements like Andariels, SoJ etc they should stay as is, but yeah i think all elements should be able to hit the same overall % as each other if you wish, as it is right now you will struggle to get some elements near Fire, lightning and cold will come close i think, but Holy, poison, phys etc i dont think will get near.

I would like to have a really good full cold spec wiz that can do higher torments, I just don't know if it would happen, or how good it would be.

I have a good grounding in my gear would just need more cold % stuff.

My Frostburns are literally amazing, look at the stats on those!

To do to make this work:

Tals Belt/Chest/Amulet for 4 piece Tals bonus. Possibly just using 2 pieces with RRoG for the 3 set bonus which is very reasonable. Some argument for Tals helm being good still but maybe a decent Cold % Andariels would be better.

Tals amulet with +Cold %, Int, Crit %, CHD %.

Cold bracers (obvs! :D) - Think I dumped them on the WD for the time being.

Got a RRoG that I am sharing with WD, can just bring them back across.

Potentially a decent Azurewrath with Socket/Int/20% Cold dmg

Harrington Waistguard, best belt ever :D

I don't think Firebirds is really that good a set, however need to consider what I would replace them with, 2 pc Firebirds is still reasonable.

Go get some magefists at least, as I mentioned before they always roll Fire % so a good slot to fill, and not too difficult to gamble for :).

In some ways letting the gear you get decide the build for you is better than trying to force a build you aren't geared up for.

Archon has a big CD so I would imagine you would need to gear up with some CDR in mind to reduce the CD to something manageable :)
