BMW and M Power Owners

The joys of running a ~ 13year old 200k+ mile car - regardless of what it is - although it will be interesting to see if you find similar niggly issues cropping up with your new steed, unlikely you'd hope I'm sure but equally, given it's complexity over the e39, maybe, perhaps to be expected....?

The difference is I don't care if the F10 breaks down because I simply call BMW Emergency Service who will come and fetch it and sort the mess out :p

Whereas niggly issues on the E39 can now be treated as an enjoyable hobby :p

Anyone got £60k?

I need to work harder.

That video is comical. Not only his watch, but for being "winding road" there wasn't a corner taken. A few turns at junctions I guess.

As for the car. Love the engine. Dislike the car overall though. But then I have absolutely no use for a saloon / big coupe / hatchback or whatever it is.

That will soon change the moment you open the door to one and gaze inside and touch the leathery /everything/ and also notice just how smooth the doors open among other little things that just ooze quality and a hefty option price :p

Sure, I get that, more I suppose an exercise in seeing which is the better from a build / reliability point of view, long term (although I doubt you'll keep the f10 to the same age / miles as your e39 is now) I'd be very surprised if the f10 turns out the better of the two....

As I say, it'll be interesting to watch.

So will I, the F10 isn't the same quality product the E39 is. It's got a better interior, its more modern, the plastics used in most of the cabin are excellent, but it doesn't have the 'hewn from granite' feeling of the E39. It's better than anything since the E39, but.. there we go.

But then adjusted for inflation, a 230bhp petrol E39 Sport with navigation, leather, Xenons and 18's is £47k in todays money.

Whereas you can park the equivalent F10 on your drive for £15,000 less. Something has to give, I guess.

How can you dislike it when it's basically just a more luxurious, higher end version of what you have only in a different bodystyle

Obviously the interior is a nice place to sit, but... Not a fan of the nav screen and how it sits in the dash. Obviously old M-Sport steering wheel. Not a fan of the leather colour. And definitely not a fan of the bodystyle. Why is that not reason enough not to like a car?

Certainly enough to prefer the car I bought, even if it is worth less. I am happy with my choice. Biggest BMW Estate. That'll do nice. Even if I came across a 530d with the EXACT same spec as my estate, but in saloon form, I wouldn't like it. Well not enough to buy it. Well, at least until it was a sub £10k car.

i have my phone connected by bluetooth for calls, can i stream music to it eg. spotify?

i cant seem to find any settings for it.

It's only on supermarket diesel too and no eco pro on mine either. Glad I didn't go for the 520D with those numbers.

Going a bit slower gets me upto 54-55mpg, not worth it tbh.

That's amazing. I drove home from Edinburgh a week or so ago (around 100 miles). Cruise set to 65 and I only averaged around 46 for the trip.
