spankingtexan, if you are still so vocal about work schemes (and still don't understand why it can't pay minimum wage and become national employment scheme instead of incentive to get full employment), why did you vote for party that wants to introduce much tougher work scheme and used to refer to benefit claimants as "a parasitic underclass of scroungers"?

I'm aware of UKIPs thoughts on the work schemes, it's a policy I don't agree with and I'm on to them. Who do you suggest I vote for? the Con/dem? who also see benefit claimants as a parasitic underclass of scrounger and who also wants to stay in the EU and leave the gates open for all who fancies popping in. As for the schemes themselves take it to the other thread. Voting UKIP halves my problem, imagine starving and you only have two slices of mouldy bread, you go for the one with the least mould.

Inb4 the Dm haters, UK taxpayers are spending £30million-a-year sending child benefit to families who live ABROAD across the European Union.
David Cameron has admitted it is ‘impossible’ to stop the cash being exported each year by migrant workers whose families are spread across the continent.

Almost two-thirds of the families are in Poland, claiming for 22,093 children.

Tory MP Andrew Rosindell, who obtained the figures through a parliamentary questions, said: ‘I have a very simple view of this. I think that a common market does not mean we have a common benefits system.
‘I don’t believe that anybody coming in from the Europe Union should get any benefits at all until they are more permanently settled in this country. I think it should be five years before they get benefits – three months is not good enough.

It's called remittances, quite common. You send money home to look after the family.

£30 million isn't that much in the greater schemes of things.

Is the punchline to this joke the faces of the Lib/Lab/Con leaders when they saw the result?

The joke is the result. UKIP grab seats in a European parliament they have no interest in. Well done all those morons who voted for them cause they have achieved nothing.

This is what I do find hilarious, UKIP are anti-EU so they vote for a party with the worst attendance in Europe, who have a record of repeatedly voting against Britain's interest, and where they can do nothing about Britain's EU membership or EU immigration. Fantastic.

If you take UKIP attendance into account then labour will have on average more seats in the EU parliament, and for the EU committees UKIP will have a fraction of the seats labour or the conservatives have since they have a shocking 30% attendance:

Sadly this has just weakened Britain's power in the EU and ability to vote in Britain's interest. Go UKIP!

I never understand why Ken Clarke is a Tory, every time he talks he sounds like a Labour stooge

What exactly do you disagree with?.

"The debate over Britain's membership of the EU must become more engaging to encourage a greater number of young people to vote, minister without portfolio Ken Clarke has said.

The former chancellor told the Today programme that the case for the UK's continued involvement in the EU must be put forward in a manner that is "less obscure"."

On a side note, I do prefer him to pretty much any other of the old school Conservatives so you may be right about that part.

He made mostly sense today but i've been thinking that for years about Ken Clarke. He's by far the most left wing tory i have ever seen. Probably needs to lose some weight so he can cross the house without collapsing

We have a winner in the "first new UKIP councillor to be outed as racist/homophobe" race.

Don't worry though, there's just as many people like this in all parties.

yes it's so ridiculous you have to laugh or you'd cry.

For an analysis of the European results this is quite good
