Where to look for hazard lights on when performing an emergency brake?
Couldn't remember but quick search online came up with:

Open Control Module Address 09 Central Electric > Coding > Long Coding helper > Byte 17 Bit 0 > tick box and save

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/216728-hazard-lights-under-hard-braking-enabled/

Sourced this well looked after E39 Sport steering wheel today and also booked the car in to have the back box replaced with a bargain priced OE Sport back box this Friday.

The amount of money I've so far thrown at my car in retfrofitting various bits would have netted me a mint Champagne II but hey ho. :p

That's been retrimmed?

November.

Do you have a graduated tint? The screen itself is fine - but the aftermarket ones don't appear to have a grad tint, they have a block tint.

It was a graduated tint on both the BMW and aftermarket screen - though on my e46 the actual tint section was tiny on both ( i dont think it even teached the rain sensor, though not certain) so it had quite a sharp fade if that makes sense. I was surprised at how close it was, other than the etching I couldn't tell the difference.

Yours isn't the mr2 is it? If you've ever got any trouble with it I'll happily give you a hand as you aren't far away.

Unless its an alternator. I'm never doing another ****ing alternator in a mk2 mr2 from the top again

Nah mine was one of the Green Almeras.

Kieran has the rusty almera/MR2 combo.

I was looking at a 1.6t Astra H from 5th gear in Airdrie. Think I'm going to buy the silver one that's £800 more but has less mileage, younger and a FSH from north road car sales up Cowdenbeath.

Ahh OK I made the almera connection.

Any particular reason for the astra? They aren't really very good ( though there are worse cars) tbh and the interior has really aged badly

5th gear seem one of the better small dealers but they're still very much a stack em high and cheap type place

Edit - never mind the previous comment here, it is the model I thought

I'm assuming insurance is a bit of an issue, in which case civic type s, fiesta St, octy vrs, swift sport, Mazda 3 sport, polo gti are all variations on a theme in slightly different sizes and power outputs that are all, IMO much better cars.

Was initially looking at MK2 Mondeo ST220 and Fiesta ST. I want something a bit bigger than the Almera and Astra feels ok put together, look good on the outside and the 1.6T puts it just a bit faster than what I hate. To be fair it was 1.8vvt Sri Astras I wanted to save a bit of money running it but......that lasted half a day.

I've spent enough time and money on the Almera and I just called time on it. It was a case of new release bearing or clutch to get it moving, probably a second hand gearbox to fix the input shaft bearing, rear caliper, brake lines front to rear front section, front shocks + springs, tax up next month and new tyres upfront soon. That's before the rusty arches and small rust hole in the sill.

Edit: Re 5th gear I can't say anything bad about them. I came from Evans Halshaw Kirkie where I looked at a 1.8vvt sri and the guy wouldn't move from £5k even though every wheel was completely ****ed and needed a refurb. He wouldn't get them fixed within the £5k and if I wanted to pay for it he would charge £220. Apparently people who don't get finance are known as skunks to the staff there. Safe to say I didn't buy that car.

Drove along to 5th gear, asked the guy about the 1.8 but it turned out to be the 125hp model so took a look at the 1.6t. He chucked the keys and left me to look round it. It was sat with two nearly illegal tyres but outside and in it was really well kept. He ended up getting the tyres changed, discs and pads all round and two coil springs changed so I could drive it tonight even though I said I was going to view another on Thursday as I wasn't happy on part service history on his car. Again he just gave me the keys and let me loose with my mate. We got back and I said it felt ok but I'll still be driving the other one which led my mate to think about it which got him a shot in the car too. No pressure and just genuine honest talking guys.

Personally I think you should try some of the others ( those that are big enough for you), they might make you realise how lifeless the astra is to drive. Regardless of whether you decide to go for one or not, don't buy anything without full history for £5k of your own money, there's no point really - the only exception would be if you could get the servicing dealer to confirm that it was in fact serviced at the missing intervals - but its pretty rare for that to happe as 9 owners out of ten will just have the book stamped.

If you're able to stretch to £6k then things like the fn2, focus ST, maybe even golf gti become worth considering - you may not be able to find one good enough at the money but all are much better all round cars

I'd love an ST3 but fuel consumption is horrific. I'd have a 330ci but they are older and high mileage.

The Astra seems quite low mileage, new enough, low owners too. If I had longer and more cash laying around I'd maybe look at the cars you suggest or try up it and get a 130i but the car broke when I'm going to France at the end of July and planning on moving to a flat when I'm back so....kinda just ticking the boxes to get back on the road.

Depends on your car what options there will be. If there are dedicated forums to your car then there will likely be a list of VAGCOM (forget it's new name) commands, things like bleep on lock and unlock are popular and teardrop wiping.

Spent most of today watching my recently cleaned car becoming less and less clean. Always happens after I've been busy with the bucket and wash-mitt.

Put a deposit down on that Astra after test driving it today.

Matching tyres on each axle, SC2 on the rear, some sort of Kumho on the front. Registered January 09 and the last owner had it from October 09 until now. New discs/pads on the back and I'll get it next week.

Drove perfect and had better steering feel than the red one I drove.

Yeah i liked the red..now i have a silver Astra i totally blend in.

My mate is buying the red one, trading in his 1.4 sxi for it.

He works in birnams and knows a guy in 5th gear so should work out ok for him.
