Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

Well just went to wake my phone and realised it had turned itself off. Turned it back on and the battery had gone from about 95% to 1%. Luckily I'm near a mains charger.

It's just taken a good few minutes to charge from 1% to 2%. I hope it's ok

edit: and a few minutes later it shows as 100%

loving my moto G the battery life is awesome compared to my old phone :D

Usually loads of juice left even after 2 days

erf

I say that and yesterday I had my phone plugged into my garmin usb charger...

my phone starts vibrating and making a stupid tone..

somehow the battery managed to drop from 63% to 1% whilst plugged in and supposedly charging...~

left it charging over night and it's showing as full but WTF?

I've noticed my phone will randomly stop charging if it;s plugged into the pc as well so maybe that happened for some reason.

on everyone elses phone is the USB connector on the phone at a bit of an angle so mini usb has to be tilted to a postive angle slightly or it won't slip over the mini usb circuit connector inside the cut-out port bit on the phone?

My Moto G has gone back to Motorola, the SIM just wouldn't stay in anymore.

And to put icing on the cake....It toasted itself when I did a factory reset before packing it :(

Posted it to Motorola on the Bank holiday weekend & they sent me a brand new replacement :D

It shouldn't have gone wrong in the first place but the service was excellent :)

you don't even need to charge it, it's a known bug (that i thought had been fixed in an OTA?).

stick a custom rom on there and you won't ever have that bug again ^^

Theirs usually a new budget king released every 6-9 months.

I think a new arrival should be on the horizon soon this was released in November 2013, so a new one is due.

<£125 = budget range
£150 - £350 = mid range
>£350 = high end

above refers to launch prices as prices usually do go down with time after initial release

You can usually within the budget range buy and sell phones as soon as the new budget king is launched without any losses on ebay. Staying within the budget range effectively means after your initial purchase all upgrades are essentially free. You usually take about a £5-£20 loss maximum on depreciation due to the fees involved on ebay.

On the mid range phones you usually take a £100-200 loss in depreciation over the same time and £200-£400 on the high end phones after fees.

So even if you buy a moto g today and a new king is launched next month, you won't be losing much if you were to sell it on and buy the new one.

After having an iPhone since release every year, for a second phone I was thinking of a Moto G, after reading this and thinking about going ahead for £95 I have come to agree with you....thing is, surely if a new one was on the horizon it would have been revealed by now surely? Not too sure on these android releases, are they quite "random" ?

You are indeed fortunate then. I have the same problem with my Moto G, but mine won't charge above 2% no matter what i do

All the press releases said this month, but the preorder on Amazon UK says released 30th June.

Hopefully it'll be earlier, my bother is using my old Xperia PLAY and it's finally playing up, even with custom ROMs.

Does anyone use any emulators with this, particularly Drastic DS? How's the performance?

EDIT: Nevermind, found a youtube video, wow, I'm suprised the A7s actually perform really well! Even PPSSPP seems to perform quite similiar to my HTC One...

Question, does anyone have one from Amazon? If so do they have a carrier logo on the notification bar?

Thinking about buying one for my old man for fathers day. My wife has the one from Tesco but uses it on Giffgaff. Annoyingly the voicemail is hardcoded to Tesco's number so she has to dial a number rather than just pressing the voicemail notification. Ideally I would also like it without the annoying carrier name taking up unnecessary room.

They all have carrier logo in notification, its something Motorolla have chosen to do in the software.

I've read some people don't have it. Appears to be with phones in certain countries.

In regards to non-Tesco phones I take it their voicemail number isn't hard coded?

I have the number 3 in my notification bar, it's extremely annoying, especially so when there is a notification icon next to it as it suggest's the two are linked

Just a heads up for any motog owners who have Sky; It seems that they have finally added this to the compatible devices list for Sky Go so you can enjoy lots of sky channels on your lovely mobile phone.. which is nice :)
