Got no lock screen replacement.

Rooted by having unlocked bootloader.

I sometimes get this seemingly randomly

Yeah thats definitely some sort of unstable software tweak, iirc the last time I had systemui issues was when I was messing with status bar tweaks on my S4.

Argh phone has switched off again and wouldn't respond until I powered on with volume rocker.
I have a 84% charge but under power management it is showing as only 6 hours battery life remaining. I have a screenshot but still at work to upload it.

I'll try a repair once home and hopefully that will sort it.

Not sure if Three's coverage is just ****, but getting a 4G signal is next to impossible. I've picked it up once.

What I can't understand is, the 4G is activated, but when you do a network search, it only shows it joined to Three's 3G network. But if i select the 4G network, it eventually reverts back to 3G.

Likely just network, I get this +/- 10MBit every day on my Z2 - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/806603832

Had mine now for a couple of days, and I likes it a lot

Feels like a 12 month refresh of the Z it's replacing. I still haven't actually used it as a phone because I'm waiting for the screen and rear protectors to come, hopefully tomorrow, and for the sake of using the Z for a couple more days, why not.. but very impressed with it so far

Camera is a huge improvement, speakers seem really good.. if not super loud, screen is spot on and vastly improved over the Z, but the stand out thing for me so far is how steady the video is when recording. It really is super smooth

Overall, very good. Not hugely different from the Z, but I knew that anyway. And double tapping the screen to wake it up will come in handy

Oh, and the noise cancelling buds are amazing. Haven't had any before that actively cancel noise, so there is no doubt better ones out there, but these things are great for a newbie. I didn't know they were active so it's a nice bonus

For those that don't know, you put the buds in as normal, giving a reduced background noise i.e sticking your fingers in your ears, but then when the phone is woken up or turned on, some magic happens and all you can hear is something similar to very faint white noise

So yeah, that's my review. Bravo Sony

See you in 24 months phone sub forum :D

I don't find the double-tap works very well, i tend to have to tap 4-5 times for the screen to turn on :S.

Also completely agree on the NC earphones. I've used them on the train, and normally where you'd hear the natural rumble of the train as it's moving, plug these in and switch the phone on (even without any music) and it blanks the sound out. Almost makes you feel deaf actually.

Only thing i thought was a shame is that Sony couldn't provide a small case to protect them, as i can't imagine these being cheap! Bought myself one of those tiny protective bags off Amazon for about £3 to store them in.

As I understand it (second hand info from a phone designer i asked about this) If you have the device in a case and don't have direct contact with any of the shell it then it has a harder time (but not impossible) detecting the taps, especially in the low power mode that the digitiser runs on when the screen is dark. You should hopefully get better response if you're touching the sides of the device or have it currently on charge as you're providing an earth.

Turbo edit: The new patch is out in the UK and reportedly makes tap to turn on much more responsive.

Ah, yes I do have mine in a case, interesting point.

And where does one obtain this patch? According to the software update, my phone already has the latest software installed.

Well I've had my Z2 for a couple of hours, all was good but now it has stopped vibrating. Tried a factory reset but that made no difference. Used the diagnostic app to test the motor and it's doing nothing. Anybody got any ideas?

EDIT: Well I went through the repair procedure on the Xperia PC Companion software and it appears to have resolved the issue, strange.

I've just bagged me one of these and overall, coming from a S3, I am impressed with it aside from the incredibly low ring and notification volume even on the highest setting. Is there anything I can do to boost the volume as I think when I'm at work I will not hear the thing...

Turn on Xloud in sound enhancements, and tweak the equalizer by bumping up each "tab" to say +5.

Ok thanks, I'll give that a go. I'm still on the 17.1.A2.55 firmware, does anyone know if the latest version, 17.1.1.A.0.402, fixes the issue?

Unfortunately the vibration stopped working again on my handset, but I did manage to figure out what was going on with it.

Basically if the handset is held up vertically and the motor is activated intermittently (by tapping the home key for example), it gradually gets weaker until it eventually stops working altogether. By then holding the phone horizontally and tapping the button and giving the phone a little shake the motor springs back into life again.

It's a week 20 build.

Here's a little demonstration of the problem:

After a 25-minute call with "Roger" from Three they eventually agreed to send me a replacement device. At first he told me that no other customers had reported the problem, did I think that having a vibrate function was really necessary, and would I just accept £5 credit on my account?

Hopefully phone #2 won't give me any trouble.

Finally got the long awaited free bluetooth speaker for pre-ordering from 3.

Solid piece of kit that actually sounds better than I thought it would.

I can finally retire my Harmon Kardon soundsticks and their messy wires from my kitchen now!.

Did it OTA for me (Voda-UK branded). Low ring can be symptom of the "increasing volume" setting, check you don't have it (and deffo enable xLoud, it's too low without it). The new firmware does appear to have more things using both speakers but I havn't tested it in great detail. There's a list of changes people have found on XDA.
