BMW and M Power Owners

Can a few of guys look within the postcode g742aw, maybe within 100 miles and see if there are any good deals, max spend is £7000, either a coupe or a saloon.

Any colour apart from gold :)

Thanks

Ps bot my real postcode but close enough...

The only one I can find that looks like it might be remotely interesting, facelift and reasonably close is the following:

To be honest, I think it's very strongly priced (probably down to the mileage) as no matter which way you paint it, the 325 is less desirable than the 330 and automatic cars are not remotely difficult to find which again makes it that bit less unique. Gut feel £4k would be more reasonable, but given that you're down into the hundreds of pounds difference bracket it's possibly just worth paying a bit more for the right car.

It's worth looking at both the 325 and 330 as a good 325 will feel no different power wise (maybe better) to a 330 with some issues.

You'd need to ask the right questions beforehand and really go have a look at it, preston's a short (and usually cheap) train journey from Glasgow if you decided to go see it.

I'd want to see the history to make sure it's actually been serviced properly, not just taken to BMW until 3 years old then given an oil change every year by some backstreet mob. Thorough check for rust and detail on all work carried out since the car was about 5 years old

Any punt as to what could be wrong with a 56 reg 335d which is suffering a dramatic loss of power, the thing is seriously gutless but no warning lights are up.
Thought it could be seized brakes, its my fathers and he only uses P but somebody used the hand brake a while back, felt the wheels and they don't seem hot, the car doesn't lurch like i'd expect if that was the case.

Error codes may still be present despite lack of engine light. Maybe get it plugged in to diagnostics and then go from there?

I guess so, I am intrigued mainly. I have established its got a BMW warranty and am in the process of trying to get it picked up for diagnostics.
Ether way it has to be fixed and as its got a warranty.

If its like mine when I lost power the turbo actuator failed on the small turbo so it barely moved until the big turbo spooled up. Had no power below about 2.5-3k

I've not really decided yet however the bumpers are hilariously cheap on Ebay as it doesn't seem like the demand is there as it is for the older models yet - ie, 100 quid per bumper. It's almost worth stockpiling them for the future given how expensive they are for E39's :D

An M Sport was £4-5k more, which seemed fairly daft for what amounted to different bumpers and wheels and suspension I didn't want. The other M Sport features, ie high gloss shadowline, anthracite headlining, seats etc are all fitted as part of the Dynamic Pack anyway.

It's like the RSAP all over again! :D

Does anyone, of the top of their heads know the size of the next on the inlet tube going to the airbox on a 130i M Sport?

I'm looking at getting a open cone air intake setup. I know there are pretty much none around but I'm sure I could remove the airbox and stuff, stick on a Jetex and work something out.

I don't know about that, but I know BMW do a performance intake for the 130i. I think it's just a modified box with a k&n cone filter though. How are you finding the 130i? I've only had mine about 4 months and loving it! :D

Took this home for tonight. X3 xdrive30d M Sport and I really like it; it builds on the dynamics of the X1 but adds much better refinement to the package, decent size inside and the idrive is fantastic. I like the small details on the cluster display aswell. impressive traction when pressing on in today's weather and makes a decent noise for a diesel.

It's bizarre that it sounds good, isn't it? The noise being so inoffensive was probably what made me able to put up with a diesel myself. It actually sounds good when you nail it.

The noise isn't bad, I miss the excitement of my 2.0T though, the 3.0D just feels a tad lazy to me, maybe the sports auto box makes it a tad livelier. It's not slow, it just seems to gather speed without any real effort.

Another LE, bloody common as muck now :p

Loving mine with the PerfBM bits but needs a remap now, trip to Evolve soon

@ Agnes check this out, although they are both expensive 500+

You could always cut the original air filter and use a Performance BMW filter in it.....

A while back I thought the battery in my 335i was on it's last legs so bought a CTEK charger to recondition it. I've added a dash cam since and it seems to be fine.

I'm still getting a laboured start up when completely cold, taking 2 or 3 times as many cranks to start compared to when warm. A bit more googling points towards the fuel pump potentially being faulty and that this might be a known issue. I do occasionally get a drop in revs when pulling off in M1/M2. Does this sound like a fuel pump issue or something else?

Could be a multitude of things. If you're convinced it's not the battery then it'll be something either messing up the fuel/air mixture slightly or spark.

I'd expect you to notice any of those things wilst driving though. When is the fuel filter change on an e9x (if it's a schedule item)? I wouldn't be going ripping out the pump unless you're getting other signs too.

First thing to do as always would be check the codes, then do some air/fuel monitoring if you can
