Electric Bike Conversion Kit or Electric Bike?

Some people here don't know what they are taking about. Cycling for 45 mins to me is the norm. I wouldnt mind it. That's 13 miles at 15 to 20 mph on a cycle. On a normal cycle id be knackered at 10mph constant pedaling so it makes sense to get a ebike. But you ppl dont seem to know anything about ebikes? Of course it makes it easier and by making it easier it means u have more energy left to cycle FURTHER. Get it? I thought I came here for help clearly sme people here need help? Lol no offence.

i missed your post sorry

people dont buy an ebike so they can travel further.

my office doesnt move further cos i have an ebike!

i have an non-ebike and i use it for evening/weekend riding out with girlfriend.

i bought the ebike cos i want to get to work easier.

99% people buy an ebike so they ride to work easier.

thats the whole point of the ebike.

if you want to get to work easier on bike, then buy an ebike but avoid cheap ones cos they dont last long and you'll end up replacing every parts, no different if you buy a £99.99 bike from argos.

i sold my stealth cos i moved to different office which is much further. it would take around 1hr 45mins to 2hrs to get there. simiply too far away to commute to work on any bike.

I find myself in 100% agreement with everything wesley said above although most days I do make it harder than my road bike by turning the pedal assist down or off BECAUSE I CAN.
During some of the World Cup matches I will be on pedal assist 5 & throttle so I can get home quicker or alternatively ride my road bike.

What do you think is the limit to of time to get to destination via ease of ebikes? How long woulf you consider riding a road bike in minutes, too long? And with the ease of ebiking, how long in minutes do you think is, too long to ride?

everybody are different. nobody know your body. only yourself can answer the question. thats why i asked do you regular ride a normal bike to work? do you?

The only thing that matters to me in commuting terms is total time from bed to desk.

It takes me 45 mins to cycle 13 miles on my road bike, but I arrive sweaty and need to shower and change at work. What I want is a road legal e-bike that can tab along at 25mph on the flat for 30 miles, without needing a recharge and without needing pedalling. Then I could hit Stratford upon Avon town in 15 mins and skip past the ever increasing number of frustrated motorists queueing at the next set of lights.

Nice to see one of our 'proper' cyclists looking at the benefits an e-bike can bring to commuting.
The thing is that there is no such thing as a road legal e-bike that can tab along at 25 mph on it's own (and you didn't say that) but I think you should be looking at one of the sporty BH bikes that will cost around £2000 and with it's gearing somebody like yourself should easily add 10 mph to the 15 mph. I can add 7 mph easily but the gearing on mine makes the cadence look stupid if I try to go faster.

Electric bikes do? They can be derestricted to 22mph I heard. Can go about 40 miles out of one charge just throttle at 15mph though. These woosh bikes im talking about have double battery samsung branded and can go upto 60 miles per charge? Called woosh big bear

250w legal ebike limited to 15.5mph but my derestricted stealth can push up to about 20mph if you pedaling fast.

want go faster thamn 20mph. get a moped!

errrr..... i ride normal bike up to about 18 mph. it just harder work.......

do you understand now?

my old office in same place whether i have a normal bike or ebike. so i dont travel further. before i had the ebike. i travlled around 18 mph. it make no quicker. but i arrived work less sweats

ebike just make the bike easier to.......ride.

On an e-bike I'll be going faster than 20mph which is considerably faster than without a motor, it gets me around faster and allows me to make journeys of a longer distance or longer duration that I would normally be able to make by bike. So I don't understand what you are trying to say about not being able to travel further.

E-bikes with mid drive motors like the Sirocco CD will do 25mph with pedal assist, but in that de-restricted state they are not Road Legal.

In reality however it is a non issue, police cannot tell whether the bike is de-restricted without examining it, and it takes only a couple of seconds to re-restrict it if you are stopped (which will never happen).

or talk to AmigaFan2003 on here or Pedelecs.
He has a new project on Pedelecs and his bike he rides now does 40 mph I think.
I'm surprised he hasn't replied in here.

only time I've ever seen police stop someone is when they have no lights on and it's dark

In 2 years of cycling and 39 years of driving I've never seen a cyclist stopped by Police.

I live up the road from a few university places :D

see idiots riding in the dark with no lights on up my road all the time and there's a police station 2 minutes away that seems to use my road a lot for getting to the city centre.

I've seen numerous people get pulled for no lights :D

obviously cops don't seem to care about any reflector laws, they don't seem to stop you and see if your light is road legal which a lot of the ones people use aren't.

the odds are they are never going to check anything that isn't blatantly obvious

You reckon the woosh big bear will also hot 25mph assisted and derestricted?
