Hope he comes back soon.
Ours love the cat tree, only one of them is allowed on the top as it is her area. If one of the others goes on there it is a manic fight roll around on the top level right near the ceiling.

Can anyone recommend a cat treat ball? The kind that treats fall out of as they play with it.

I have a pink ball which works.
Dont need to put treats - you can put in dry food, so your cats dont gorge on the food, so its also used to keep their weight in check.

Its called a slim-ball.
look it up.

Hope the missing kitty comes home soon :)

Our Toby cat has this strange fascination with shoes and sleeping on them

Or slippers if he needs a bit more comfort.

Seen a few videos on YouTube of people playing fetch with their kitties, is there a secret to getting them to do this?

Not sure my MC has always done it, though she will sometimes drop her toy out of reach of my hand and then make noises at me as to why have I not thrown it for her again lol

It depends on the kitty, their age and playfulness. Ours used to play fetch off the bed. So cute.

Take an object of interest (a cheap plastic drinking straw works really well), show it to the cat and then put it somewhere tricky to reach, but visible. For example, wedged between two books on the bookshelf, poking out a behind a picture frame on the wall above the sofa, on wardrobes etc. The idea is to challenge their inquisitiveness to retrieve the object.

We've had two cats that play fetch.
Our Norwegian Tree Cat (whom we lost a couple of years ago) was extremely hyper-active and it was just another game. He picked it up very quickly and soon realised that by bringing the item back (usually screwed up tin-foil) he'd get to chase it again.
We currently have a 2yr old "moggy", black & white and he picked it up as a kitten and still loves it now. He hasn't totally sussed out bringing the item to us. He'll chase it, bring it back and then go play with it just out of arms reach and then moan when we haven't thrown it again for him.
But he's now brining it back directly to us more often than not.

Is that mainly from the neutering or the chipping?

From the neutering, looks messy this one our other female cat had a much better operation the stitches were a lot clearner and they shaved a lot less hair off, must have had an off day ha!! Bless her, she was falling all over yesterday still high from the drugs they used, but much better today, need to keep the face muzzel on for a week for them to heal or they would pull them out.

The chipping is via a big needle pushed in under the neck, impossible to tell its been done, very quick and easy.

Got an microchip cat flap that I need to set up tonight as we get other cats coming in eating the food and spraying. Hope to be the best money spent. Quite expensive and you can but the ones that go around the collar of the cat via which are much cheaper but I dont like my cats wearing collars and they would pull them off easilly.

So I've got this madam..

She's ok with me but she's petrified of my kids who are 6 and 4.

As soon as she goes near them she hisses and runs away and hides. She doesn't lash out or anything... yet.

She'll happily eat treats out of my hand but when the kids have the treats she'll run off.

Any advice on getting her used to the kids?

I've tried keeping the kids back and letting the cat sniff their fingers and get used to them but any closer contact then she's off.

My dad's had her for a couple of years. I've moved back to his temporarily so my kids are here more often and I've been here 3 months now.

If they lived here I'm sure she'd get used to them but they are only here weekends.
