The 4K dilema.

Yeah got the AOC u2868pqu - don't get me wrong its a **** good monitor in many ways but I don't see myself gaming much on it.

On a large 4K TV ....55'' or more, a bush or a tree will look just as bad as it does right now :D:D........

all games lack ``real life`` detail, texture and attention to detail, they look pretty bad up close, in fact, the bigger and better the tv the more you'll notice the rubbish graphics..

games, they are a changing
some of the latest ones like Titanfall, Crysis 3 and Star Citizen look absolutely gorgeous in 4K

gaming on a large TV is just awful whichever way you look at it, desktop 32" 4K would be perfect, even 28" is a big improvement over 27" 1440p

on a big screen it definitely isn't awful, because you tend to ignore it, it's only bad if you stop and study your surroundings too closely ;)

so for the likes of me....4K/OLED will never look brilliant for gaming, but they will give you a far better image on HD TV, which is what it's all about.

finally.... you'll have no choice anyway, because all HD TVs will be switching to 4K soon.....because this wont die out like that silly 3D Rubbish

I'm gaming happily on my Samsung 4K.

Can't speak for the Samsung but the AOC suffers quite badly from overdrive related issues even with lower settings and possibly hence why its so agressive struggles a bit with faster motion in general. Looking around seems to be similiar complaints about the Samsung in regards to overdrive though.

I can quite happily play racing games with a wheel on it for instance aside from the overdrive artifacts on some bright objects is a bit distracting so if your playing on controller in that regard its less of an issue but some games its really hard to find a compromise with mouse input with settings that will allow you to quickly move between spread out objects onscreen while also retaining low level precision for smaller movement, some people might be happy with mouse acceleration but a lot of gamers try to avoid it.

Similiar on the desktop though I find it hard to find a mouse setup that quickly lets me move around the general desktop while still feeling precise and responsive for smaller movements which isn't helped by the slightly laggy feel with faster mouse movement - theres conflicting reports on these 4K panels whether the input latency is ~10 or ~20ms so not sure what the actual figure is but my AOC feels similiar to the old 30ms Dells.

30ms gaming lag/ input lag is about average for a tv, but my last tv was better at 20ms............

the tv is fine in HD TV mode, it only struggles during high speed motion, but it has no motion faults at all in PC mode !!!!....conclusion:- the PC has far more processing power than the tv.

I only have a 1440p and my Samsung to compare against, but between the two, my Samsung suffers a lot less from overdrive and responsiveness problems than my IPS does, but I would imagine that if you went from a 120hz 1080 to one of these TN 4K's that it would be the other way round
