I think I'd benefit from having an HRM and such.. probably proper speed and cadence too :)

I'm really just at the start of my "fitness journey" though. I can handle longer rides, climbs and sustained riding but not at anything like the sustained speed the more pro cyclists (on here) regularly do.

I personally just want a speed sensor so I know exactly what my avg etc speeds were :)

garmin loves to freak out in london for no reason.. and going 20mph shows 7mph then jumps to 38mph and so on..

Yeah... I get dodgy as hell results with Strava sometimes :s

Cadence and speed would be nice. I'm not that fussed about HRM right now but once I'm done cutting and I'm more about training for speed/endurance it might be useful. So would a power meter but teh monies :/

I need to get my speed/cadence sensor sorted. The cadence part works, but the speed sensor is now broken. I'm going to try one of the alternatives to the GSC10.

Probably loss of leg muscle to some degree?

Definitely lost some muscle, although I still commute 10 miles a day and have been doing a lot of walking recently 5+ miles a day.

Last year I was gaining a fair bit of weight I didn't eat properly or enough when on the bike and ended up being always hungry off the bike then would often make some poor (unhealthy) food choices. Also didn't help with how random my mileage was from one week to the next.

For completeness last year my weight peaked around 153lb (I'm 5'10) I'm now at 141lb and the year before last I was around 134lb.

Less said about the rain on the commute home the better, torrential and mixed in with thunder and lightning....at one point there was a flash of lightning every 10 seconds or so.

Got the Assault SLG's on, more room between the chainstays than i thought there would be considering they are 25mm wide rims (Veloflex Corsa 25c tyres).

Took it for a quick spin on the local estate with my DA9000 front wheel still fitted then i had brakes as i'm waiting for the proper carbon pads to turn up (a source in Germany).
The Campag free hub with Chorus 12-27 cassette seemed to be ok with my DA9000 as has been suggested online.

They really do look the business. Can't wait for a ride report. The only reservation is have about these is the fact that they are only 41mm deep rims. My Soul S3.0s are 32mm and part of me thinks that anything less than 50mm wont be much of a difference in looks or aero performance. However as a wheel you can ride all day in all conditions then I reckon these would fit the bill. Not too expansive either. The whole bike looks great.

They look great. There were instantly 1000% better than the GSC10 the moment they decided to use rubber bands instead of horrible zip ties.

a lot cleaner looking than the old sensors indeed. I just use a small magent on the inside of the pedal as the old cadence sensor dropped off after the 1st ride!

I'm going to presume that the new sensors work with the older Edges (800) as they are ANT+?

Weirdly, since I complained to Garmin that I never got a cadence reading off my gsc10, it started working.

Did a quick 3miles to the doctors this morning, wow. My legs held up fine but it felt like someone had a Bunsen Burner on my throat!

Need to up the cardio and get the lungs going properly again.

Happy with the bike thus far.

Yea i've been looking at all sorts of depths!
Even Zipp 404 Firecrest at 58mm and 303's at 45mm as they arent a bad price at £1600 on Merlin. Only thing is as well as £600 more than the Assaults they are wider than the already wide 25mm Assaults and fitment might be close, very close (26.5mm bulging to 28mm wide on the 303 IIRC, the 404 is a smidge narrower).
Reading the CR1 SL thread on bikeradar and people with 23mm wide rims and 25mm tyres were changing to 23mm as they said they were to near teh chainstays.....mine are 25mm rims with 25mm tyres and they arent close at all really!
In the end i thought the 58mm's might be too big (tall) and the Assault rim weight at 445g is still excellent for a clincher.
could have gone with a Wheelsmith build but again his new clincher at 60mm might be a little too big and its quite wide.
Also looked at the carbon/alloy clinchers, RS81 C50 and DA C50 but though the rim would likely be too weighty.

Had considered tubs off and on but chickened out in the end... :D

Problem with the new sensors is they are accelerometer based and the readings vary a lot more than magnet based. If you look at the graphs on dcrainmaker the line has a lot more 'noise' to it.

Not that big of a deal, but I'm not going to go upgrading to them straight away.
