*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

GTA 5 is MILES better than Watch Dogs. WD just bored be near enough straight away.

And if you pay that much for a game from then you've more money than sense :p And you're also the reason why digital prices are utterly ridiculous.

Of course it is, Grand Theft Auto V is an (and IV, and previous Grand Theft Auto games) absolute masterpiece(s), one of the best games ever made imho.

Watch_Dogs bored me, did not find it too enjoyable, I don't think it's a bad game, I think it's just very average. I don't even think it looks that nice either.

Just for future reference, if you have a cex close by to game. Get game to price match. For example, Game offered me £27 for watch dogs, matched price was £37 (they actually beat it by a £1)

There is a page on the game website with info. I do it with every game and console now.

Yes I do have a CEX close to Game.

How do you go about it? Do you print the prices off the website first? Or go into CEX and ask them first? As it says in their T & Cs:

This excludes trade in prices offered via email or online.

Really?

What aspects do you think that Watch_Dogs is better?

Missions easy with zero reward? What? Like, I don't get that. Watch_Dogs is so incredibly repetitive and boring. Grand Theft Auto has heists, flying helicopters to the side of buildings to kidnap someone and using three different perspectives to do it...

Not to mention the variety in the side missions.

As I said above I found the story missions and side missions to be much better. More enjoyable

Can you honestly say you found the missions on gta a challenge? I bet right now while doing the story missions you failed or died very little. That's because it's far to easy. It's a known fact that gta is a easy game.

I'll put a plus and minus.

Watch dogs
+decent story
+great acting+voice overs
+very good graphics can't compare this to gta5 on ps3 though it's a fact ps4 is better.
+great shooting and driving mechanic's
+lots side missions
+very good story missions
+hacking is proper fun to use
+city is alive with loads people to interact with never seems to see something happen all the time.
+stunning 5.1 DTS audio
+great selection of cars and bikes
-poor sound track
-weapon selection
-map on screen can become cluttered and hard to find things at times.
-while I do like I driving I can also see why people don't like it so I'll also give this a minus
-some slow downs in framerate

I know there's a certain degree of subjectiveness to this, but really, the story and script is quite poor and aside from Jordi all the characters are boring, one-dimensional clichés. The gruff-voiced Aiden, the sweet innocent sister, the rebellious female hacker. I haven't finished it yet so if there are any surprises to come later perhaps I'll change my mind, but I suspect it's going to go exactly as I'm expecting.

I've quite enjoyed hacking the CtOS masts, having to combine some physical traversal with the usual hacking mechanic is nice but they're done in seconds and there's not enough of it really. Too much of it just involves pressing Square to jump from camera to camera to camera to camera until you get where you need to be.

The audio is bitstream not DTS, but then GTA5 also had this and did it more effectively. Ambient/traffic sound was certainly superior in GTA5, and the vehicles in Watch Dogs all sound a bit weak and quiet.

I'm glad it's been a sales success and I hope it means they can refine everything for Watch Dogs 2. I was never expecting a GTA beater - it's a tough act to follow let alone beat - but I think they'd have easily gotten away with less of the filler material if they'd spent a bit more time on the narrative and the game mechanics that are used over and over again.

Amazing :D.

Hahaha. Source for your 'fact' please?

Watch dogs
+decent story

Found the story clichéd and boring, poorly put together.

+great acting+voice overs

Disagree. Voice overs were nothing special, just typical 'American anti-hero'. The voice overs also had little to do with characters lip movements.

+very good graphics can't compare this to gta5 on ps3 though it's a fact ps4 is better.

I personally, besides the weather, do not think there is much between Grand Theft Auto V and Watch_Dogs, however a fair comparison will be with the PlayStation 4 version.

+great shooting and driving mechanic's

Sorry, disagree, shooting is not better and driving certainly is not. The physics, the handling, the weight of the cars and the turning.

+lots side missions

Yes, which are all boring and repetitive :D.

+very good story missions

Totally disagree. Clichéd and dull.

+hacking is proper fun to use

Wears thin and was not quite as promised, fun addition but ultimately doesn't bring much to the game beyond hacking camera's to avoid going in guns blazing (which I thought was the best aspect of the game).

+city is alive with loads people to interact with never seems to see something happen all the time.

Really? I mean, just really? At this point I think you work for Ubisoft :D :p.

No, just no.

+stunning 5.1 DTS audio
Grand Theft Auto sounded pretty good on my Onkoyo surround sound :).

+great selection of cars and bikes

Disagree, they all feel and handle rubbish as I have said and the physics are off meaning driving is a poor experience.

-poor sound track

Agree.

-weapon selection

Agree.

-map on screen can become cluttered and hard to find things at times.

Didn't find this too much of a problem personally.

-while I do like I driving I can also see why people don't like it so I'll also give this a minus

Yes, because it's terrible.

-some slow downs in framerate

Err but it's next gen? :p.

Watch_Dogs as I have said (and I'm sure I sound like a broken record) is a wonderfully average game. It's certainly not bad, but it's certainly nothing special. It has just been hyped and marketed to death (Ubisoft do this well) and it didn't live up to expectations nor was it particularly good.

Not sure if it's because I have selected DTS in the ps4 settings. But watch dogs is definitely playing DTS my receiver is saying so. :)

If not Watch Dogs, then has anyone played the action RPG Bound By Flame? It got fairly average reviews but looks like it could be a blast.

I'm usually a fan of games like Bound By Flame, but I gave up on it after about eight hours. I liked bits of where the story was going and it was mildly engaging but everything else was frustrating, especially the combat.

All I do is check CEX prices online (they will quote you identical in store)

Walk into game and ask for trade in price, if it's less (nearly always is!) I ask them to match the CEX price. They normally go out back to check the price online and beat it by £1, Well worth doing next time.

Also if you don't already use it, download the game loyalty app and link a points card, you will be surprised how quickly points rack up when spending £50 a pop and trading back in at £30+

Not to mention that the licensed music is all entirely awful. If they're not going to put some radio stations in they should have provided the option to import your own music somehow.

Wut?? Squarepusher, Vampire Weekend, Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up, Weezer, Public Enemy? The only criticism is there aren't enough songs.

Thanks, think I'll give this is a miss (until it is in a bargain bin maybe :p)

Thanks, definitely gonna do that. Already got the Game app and racked up lots of reward points (although I keep spending them before they amount to anything special :p

Oh also, do you go by CEX's 'webuy for cash' price, or the 'webuy for voucher' price? I assume the voucher one as that is the same kind of trade in as I would be doing with Game (i.e. not for cash but for games/Game voucher)

TOTAL TRADE IN: £39.50

Go to game and they will match CEX trade in price and give £1 extra for each game.

It's by the voucher price for trade in, unless you want cash. I've learnt over the years that once I've completed a game that I'm never likely to go back to it, even if I say I will. So now I just trade in as soon as complete and get it put on a gift card, which I keep in my wallet for those impulse buys :p
