XP quick format took like 5 seconds?

Just got my new internal WD Green drive from this site, went to format it in xp and it did it in like 5 seconds now the drive has shown up as working etc i seem to recall my wb black drive taking ages to format before?

A quick format doesn't check for bad sectors, whereas a regular format does. This is what takes the extra time.

Ah ok for some reason i expected it to be quicker but not that quick lol, Ive just quick scanned it with hdtune and its got no errors, is a full scan really necessary before i stary moving over my data?

Yes. The badblocks utlity is even better than a full HD Tune scan.

If you can, perform a full format then run a full scan. Although you'd probably get away with a quick format and quick scan, they really aren't thorough enough to indicate whether or not you have a health drive.
