Good episode, wasn't one of the best but sets it up for an excellent series 5.

Where does this tie in with the books now? Has the end of series 4 coincided with the end of one of the books?

Someone will probably correct me, but I think its pretty much where book 4 ends although with one or two changes that shouldn't really effect the overall storyline (It's been a while since I've read the books).

KInd of don't like Tyrion anymore : / Also , what is Varys up to? Looked like he was going to leave the boat, then heard the bells from kings landing and then got on the boat?

For the most part I hate Daenerys in both the books and the TV series. To me she seems almost a pet character for Martin. Tyrion is still an awesome character :)

Not really sure with Varys it was almost like he was conflicted between hard cold logic and an emotional/better nature choice.

EDIT: Or as finners said it could be he realised at that moment Tyrion had really done something dramatic.

I loved it :D. The bells signal the death of the Hand so he put two and two together and realised he should GTFO too.

Loved it loved it.

Epic fight with the big ***** and the hound.

That can't be the hound dead was to much begging going on and he's still on her list!! Well I hope he not dead as he's one of my favs.

Hearteater and tyrell on the loo lol

Kinda makes up for the shock to weeks ago.

Doubt he is dead, dunno, neither arrows was a fatal wound Tyrion seemed to very carefully place one near but not in the heart and the other in his shoulder.

Not exactly. The Bran story has actually been pulled forward from book five; the Brienne arc has been moved forward from about the middle of book four (and a non-canon fight with The Hound added); Danaerys has bits from about the end of book four; but the rest is pretty much just the end of book three. Two huge threads of book four haven't even been started (What Cersei Does Next and What Jaime Does Next). Since book five started at the same point in time as book four, that adds at least three major new arcs.

Quite liked that episode - I think i've grown to expect too much from the series though as I binge-watched Series 1 - 3 in several days, so the pace and drama is much more distilled now (and going to be tedious for 10months!!).

I always thought the Hound was destined for big things - especially with some connection to fire, doesn't seem that way now.

Stannis riding on the Wildlings was unexpected, and I was disappointed that the Red Lady kept her clothes on. She's getting a reputation for being almost decent now!

Couldn't tell, but had Stannis' daughter's face been healed?

Danaerys clearly has a rogue dragon, and she's sealing the other 2 away for now; unsure how that'll work for her as they'll despise her for it.

I think the fact the Hound was left alive means he'll be back. Maybe it'll have something to do with the brotherhood without banners as they've already shown them healing normally fatal wounds.

We don't actually see the hound die so could go either way - likewise with Tywin Lanister (though I accidentally just saw what happens there so now I do know :S).

IIRC he has already had one brush with them and they've shown some interest in him so theres definitely a possible tie in there.

don't reckon that's the last of the wall - we've got Jon Snow riding off to find Mance now....

Also wasn't Stannis supposed to be heading to the wall a few episodes ago - yet has seemingly made no attempt to go there yet....

[...]
While obviously its game of thrones and anything can happen I really hope they don't execute Tyrion or something happens at the last minute like the mountain (if not dead) dies from his wounds. If not then presumably Jamie will have a go at helping him escape or something.

[...]
I reckon there does have to be something re: Brienne & Pod - presumably she finds one of the Stark girls at last.... though not sure how well this could go down as it would lead to a confrontation with either Little Finger getting rid of her somewayor a fight with the hound....

quite happy with that episode... - Stannis arriving, Brienne fighting the Hound and Jamie rescuing Tyrion... :)

Brienne fighting the Hound was nonsense. She had barely raised a sword in conflict until after the Hound was dead let alone any of them being anywhere near the Eyrie.

Great episode, though.

They were right next to the Eyrie... she asked where the bloody gate was and was told... Arya and the Hound had just come back from the bloody gate - that was the last time we saw them... when Arya heard her Aunt had died and in the episode before the wall one Brienne and Pod were heading towards the Eyrie from that cross roads... so an encounter with either Arya or Sansa was blatantly on the cards...
