If I wanted a car for track work that I knew I could drive at 10/10ths all day long, I wouldn't want my current car.
My EP3 was superb on track. Perhaps a few more mods would have made it perfect but it was capable of much more than my own limits in the form I had it in.
Saying that though, it took a lot of work to reach that standard. Renault are just offering an out if the box solution here. Not everyone wants to modify a 8/10 year old hatchback. Some people will want to just benefit from a manufacturers own R&D.
Whether or not ring lap times are important or not, it really does prove a cars capability of handling technical road quickly.
