Anybody else thinking Origin is ok now or is the hate still strong?

I like steam but it just seems to be 90% Pre-Purchase, Early Access and obscure Indie titles now. Origin annoys the hell out of me. I dont know what uPlay is.

origin- never had an issue myself, but ui is a bit over simplified [i'm no minimalist] and the platform is unnessecary imo. at least it recognises steam bought ea games.

uplay- fair play to it i've yet to encounter any in-game or server related issues, but apart from that the ui has for me the same frustration factor as itunes and it refuses to admit i own any games bought from steam therefore for me its bloatware i'm not allowed to delete.

steam- its popular, has plenty of games and thus far i've never had an issue i can attribute to steam itself rather than the game.

I have less of a problem with it that I used to.

Steam, Battlenet client & Origin all load up for me. Origin is only there as a platform to play the Sims or Battlefield from, Battlenet is quite good and steam is steam.

Tesco exists so Sainsburys, Waitrose etc. don't need too...

EA like their games on their own sale platform that they manage, I don't really see a problem. Business is business.

You can buy all your food in any of those stores and not set foot in other. BF only gets sold or launched on Origin. It would be like Tesco being the only store to sell cereal. That is my problem with online distribution atm- I want to chose one platform and get ALL my games on it. But have the choice of lots of platforms to begin with.

But you still buy BF anyway, if it stopped people buying then they might consider it but it wont. And the few it does stop EA don't care about anyway

What the hell. How is the quoted for truth acronym treated as a swear word? This family forum goes too far sometimes.

There was a time when Quoted For Truth wasn't a thing. Just like "For The Win" came out of nowhere, so did Quoted For Truth. It became a thing on this forum that people, rather than add to a discussion, would just post pages and pages of Q F T and +1. It was a pointless excercise that existed only to increase post count without actually contributing to the community.

So it was removed.

No issues with Origin aside from the fact that the sod keeps forgetting my user/pass with each update. I find it more reliable than bloated steam, which can't even login first time anymore.

The loss of UN/PW is very annoying for a casual gamer like myself who wants a quick round of BF4 every once in a blue moon.

Origins OK really. It doesnt quite just work like steam does but its improved a lot recently. Still I only use it because I have to to play those games. Can't say I really like having games on multiple different platforms.

Uplay though...uplay needs work. No different to origin and steam in the early days.

Never really had any issues with Origin and its always given me super fast downloads so cant really complain on that front.

Its miles ahead of Uplay.

never really had a problem with Origin since the beginning, but then again, i don't use it that often, but like most on here, most of my game are on steam, but if a game is only released on origin, that would not put me off like it does some people

For me it is just a *thing* that is required to be loaded before I can play games from it. I keep forgetting, unlike Steam, that there is anything beyond this...

I don't have particulalry strong feelings either way TBH.

The only thing I would like to see is a proper game backup system offered*. Whilst my Internet isn't slow (77Mb), re-installing from a backup is much quicker.

*This may not be a thing, I haven't checked / bothered to look.
