I've moved over to Virgin media, but there is a programme on the Sky box that I would like to keep. Is this possible at all?

Borrow a DVD recorder?

I've still got a older Panasonic HDD/DVD recorder connected up for that reason.

Not as simple as that.

It involves removing the hard drive and copying to a pc I believe. google is your friend.

the output from the sky box is encrypted i believe and so are the recordings to stop you from doing this.

I must be making it up then.

Throw a SCART lead between the two. Play the recordings on the Sky+ box (there's even a facility to batch them up), record AV2 on the recorder.

I record to the HDD, top and tail the recording then fast copy to DVD.

Here's an idea. If you don't know, keep schtum.

If you can still play the program back then connect the box to a video or Dvd recorder and play the program back and hit record on the dvd/video recorder.

As Misschief has said you need to be able to play the recording - to do so you must still have a working sky card.

Op says he has moved to virgin media therefore i assumed no longer had a working sky card and subscription.

I looked into it myself after moving and it was a lot of hassle.

If you can still play it then your method will work.
