Ramadan 2014

What? :confused::confused:

I didn't say anything against any religion lol.

Enjoy the thread whilst it lasts. Ramadan is not my thing. I know very little about it and I'm not too interested. Just peopped in cause I have nothing better to do.

No you said religious threads weren't allowed, I then posted the rule on religious threads, then you got all confused  :p

Pretty much. Wherever you are situated you will have to obide by the time of dawn/dusk.

That could be awful!

In short

Google the rest.

Good luck with your fast, I totally admire it for those who go through with it. A lot of self discipline involved. As a comment in here, there is health benefits to fasting. Pointless for anyone to do it in the same way as Ramadan though, unless for religious reasons. I fast normally for 16 hours, but count sleep as part of this.

I thought Ramadan was approaching because of the sudden influx of people knocking on my door asking money for charity. Why is it they always send old people who have a habit of holding their hands behind their back and can't read signs reading "No charity bodies"?

This is my sign on my letter box:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stop-people-Canvassers-Religous-Bodies/dp/B0033GKQ7U

I give charity to respected and trusted associations or directly to the poor. So don't call me scrooge.

Because it doesn't involve any form of torturing yourself.

And because presents.

!

I feel tortured after having to demolish all that food and ale. Damned festival.

Ramadan Mubarak.

“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may learn self restraint.” (Quran)

There's nothing wrong with people being curious as to why anyone would fast, but this isn't really the best place to ask for those who want a genuine answer. We live in a time where many people are simply slaves to their desires (or nafs). We feel like this, so we have this, we feel like that, so we have that with very little thought sometimes. One of the reasons behind fasting is that we are taking control of our desires and not allowing them to control us.

Jesus Christ peace be upon him would fast, it is also a form of worship. I work with a vast majority of non muslims and it's sometimes a bit embarrassing how they may apologise if they offer me some food by accident or are eating in front of me. Everyone should carry on as normal :) Most non muslims I've known are very respectful.

The abstaining from food and drink though is only a small part of Ramadan, probably the easiest part in fact. The prophet peace be upon him said 'Whoever does not refrain from false speech and deeds, God has no need for him to leave his food and drink.'

May you all have a blessed month.
