Staying in sucks

Didn't you read the OP? He's staying in alone.

Only David Carradine an idiot has a danger tug without using the buddy system!

A good point and well presented. One small flaw however. You need to trust your buddy or face the possibility of a reach around. I trust no one !!!

Brazil game was one of the best matches i have watched in a while, cooked some good food and that sorted me. Of course checking this thread was semi entertaining.

Also tried finding out what all the TIAM threads were but gave up after a minute or so

I must admit I am struggling with understanding this 'I must go out out every Friday/Saturday' culture.

I am 40 years old and loved a night out in my late teens and early twenties like everyone else. I now work for a taxi company at night and am amazed the culture difference now.

Nights for us used to start at 7:30-8:00pm with a late night bar/club but today God I feel old.

It seems that people come alive around 10:00-12:00 going on much later. The same names and faces appear every weekend spending an enormous amount of money alone on transport. Many journeys could be walked in 6-10 mins but that is deemed unacceptable nowadays.

The worst is when capacity is full and they may be faced with a waiting time of 15-45 minutes. It is like the world has ended and the drunken abuse starts. Then around 12:00-1:00am you get the repeated random calls for groups to go off to cities many miles away.

These are not cheap fares and many cost well over £100's each way. Truly unbelievable and I would not even say it is a certain age group.

God only knows what people are earning nowadays to be blowing the money they are on just transport alone. I know for one thing that many of the journeys come to more than my rent does a week.

At the end of the day I am not complaining they keep me in work, just a real eye opener. I have in the past shrugged of the 'Binge drinking Britain' comments plastered all over the press. I like a drink myself at home with my partner so I can't lecture people.

However at 3-4 am when I leave work sober I see the state of the stragglers left behind and out of money. There are also many others out of sight that have got themselves out to very rural locations with no thought of how they will get home. It is all too often I take calls from people stranded and out of money with no idea what to do. I do my best to help the most vulnerable but you cannot help everyone.

Very strange times. This isn't a pop at the OP either. I imagine that most people work Mon-Fri, I know how I feel sober coming home 4am on a Friday/Saturday morning. The next day is wasted as I am too tired or just getting ready for another shift. Life must just be work, two nights out drinking, hangovers then straight back to work.

I work mon-fri, exercise almost every day so feel a night out once a week isnt exactly a big thing - Certainly not like university years of going out 5 or 6 nights a week. Stuff like stag do's and weddings will not continue forever either, im just at that age.

Regarding the time, it depends what the night is. A lot of club nights dont open until 11pm or even midnight. Hamburg, some of the clubs didn't open until 5am! (5-10)

Taxi wise I never spend much as am in the centre, think the most I have spend was £40 from York to Leeds when I missed the last train.

Weddings, Stag do's will continue most of your life. People get divorced and re-married etc.

As you get older the sad fact is you tend to go to more and more funerals.

In my post I said that the Friday/Saturday night culture goes on as you get older nowadays, so don't worry if you missed one there are plenty more.

I don't earn loads so bills and saving for holidays etc are now more a priority than drinking every weekend.

All these Stag do's and weddings means people are settling down. You will probably find they are not so up for every weekend on the lash as they build a family.
