I love my vamo. Have a v4 and v5 and cant be without them. Have a mechanical mod..nemesis with kayfun gt and prefer the vamo. Leave it at 3v and up the wattage. I usually vape betwwen 4.5 and 6.5w. The only downside to them is they are so easy to knock over. I have went through 2 protanks as t he 510 connector broke off both after repeated falls. Apart from that, it is ideal. I use a menthol ejuice and quitting fags was hilariously easy.

So I should be set with this stuff for a while?

So basically I bought a £10 pen from the bay, just so I could experiment with different flavours etc, is there any signs I should be looking for that could potentially harm me? Just because it's a cheap pen so things could go wrong? I notice that the clear class tube steams up and gets hot, is this normal? Also when I'm changing liquids from one flavour to another do I simply just put the new flavour in ? Or do I have to wash it out?

any help guys?

If you're using two different flavours that wouldn't be good together it might be an idea to wash it out. I believe you need to let it dry properly though? Someone will be along shortly that knows more than me ;)

It steams up because thats the liquid turning into vapour before you suck it up.

It gets hot because the coil heats up to turn the liquid into vapour. (you wont notice this with well built ones)

As for changing the liquid, you dont HAVE to wash it out, but I would so you get the true taste of the new one, same flavour? Dont worry about it.

I would only use a cheap one like that for a week or two, just to see if you can get off the fags with it, if you think/know it will work for you, then time to upgrade to something decent :)

Leaving it at 3v makes not one bit of difference.

It doesn't matter whether you are in variable wattage mode or variable voltage mode, when you make adjustments, you are varying the volts applied to the coil. The difference is that in variable wattage mode, the device is calculating the voltage to apply by taking into consideration the resistance of the coil. The end result being that if you change coils to one of a different resistance, the new coil will hit exactly the same as the old coil, without having to make any further adjustments.

So a variable wattage device is more of a "set and forget" type mod. Of course, in practice, it doesn't really work like that. For example, dual coil set-ups prefer higher watts than single coil set-ups. Home made coil / wicks can handle more power than pre-made due to wicking, and so on.

Now, as to whether you should go for a Vamo or not, £55 is a lot of money. No two ways about it. The bonus with this vaping malarky is that second hand items tend to sell for almost new prices. Although that wont apply to the likes of the CE4 clearos, because they are poop. So you will unlikely lose too much money if it isn't for you.

That being said, you still have to shell it out in the first place. Rather than forking out for that VE starter kit, think smaller still. I started out with something like this : http://www.paradisevapeuk.co.uk/product-p/express.htm

At only £8, the same price as a packet of cigs, it was a fine little introduction, and will leave you with a back-up device if you do decide to go more advanced.

Add to that a couple of flavours, from there they are about £3 each, and you are good to go. I started with Irn Bru and Mojito, and they were both excellent from there. There are nicer flavours elsewhere, but then you have to pay extra postage and stuff, so can get quite expensive. At least if you buy everything initially from the same place, you are cutting costs a little.

So you could get started for as little as £15 including e-liquid and devices. If it's not for you, then not a huge amount lost. If you feel it could work for you, then Vamo / Protank is a good way to go. Although I'd be pretty tempted by the MVP from myepack as you don't need to be messing with batteries and chargers, the internal battery lasts a couple days, and it's a nice wee size.

Wow, thanks for the reply!

I'm enjoying vaping - I just don't want the 10 motives cheap supermarket thing I have anymore! Haven't touched a real one for a couple of weeks again now! What is the MVP you refer to?

The mrs has just ordered herself the starter kit from vapeescape, and apart from the CE4's it isn't a bad kit!

Thanks again for your time

It's an Innokin MVP V2 and is a Variable Wattage "box" type device :

http://myepack.co.uk/mods/itaste-mvp-v2-0-metal-grain.html

It's as good as the Vamo etc... But without the faff of batteries and chargers. I use one for when I fly abroad as it's nice and compact, charges via USB and hits plenty hard enough (although admittedly not as hard as a Vamo IMO). And, at only £37, it comes with a iClear30, which many regard to be as good as the Protank (not me, as it's a dual top coil device, and I like my bottom coil devices. But that's a personal preference thing).

So that MVP, and some e-liquid and you'll be good to go.

I know that was aimed at V_R, but for me, knowing then what I know now, I would pick the MVP first. I would still end up with a Vamo and a Nemesis (or 3), but I would start with the MVP for it's ease of use, relative cheapness, and the fact I still use mine almost daily despite having many more expensive devices.

What makes you go back to it mate? I just find the shape of it... odd! looks almost uncomfortable to hold!

Edit : Another concern with that mvp - when it goes wrong or battery dies you have to throw the whole thing away!

Agree, and I'd likely do the same tbh.

I've never had an MVP, but I started on a cigalike, then Egos and CE4's, then went on to Vamo's, Provari, now I use Mech's and my Hana Mods clone.

In hindsight, I'd skip the Ego/CE4, it was crap. :)

It is surprisingly comfortable to use. I do really like it. And I go back to it regularly because of it's epic battery life. A reasonable 18650 battery will last a good day vaping. Not much more, then it needs a good 6-8 hours in a charger (while you are awake, you cannot let a Lithium battery charge overnight as it may explode). The 18350 batteries are like pringles, I can fire through 3-4 a day no problem.

The MVP on the other hand, last me 2 days between charges. If my phone battery dies, I can give it a quick charge off my MVP. I can charge it off my PC while I'm sitting in front of it, and I can use it while I do so, unlike your regular tube mods.

Yes, it is true that once the MVP battery dies, you basically chuck it. You could use it as a pass through device though, where you keep it charging off your PC, and still use it though.

With that said, my first Vamo lasted 6 months before the firing button failed, and now it is barely useable. These "cheaper" VV/VW mods do not last an infinite time themselves. Look on the forums and they will be full of stories telling you their device only lasted 6 - 12 months. Probably as long as the MVP would last. If you want a real hard-wearing, long-lasting VV/VW device, expect to pay £100+ for the likes of a Provari / Semovar / Dicodes Dani. Otherwise, read up on battery safety and get yourself a mech mod like a nemesis or similar. No adjusting voltages or wattage, just a straight hit off whatever the battery is producing at that moment.

But that is more advanced again, and better done when you are starting with rebuilding your own coils in a proper RBA (ReBuildable Atomiser) / RDA (Rebuildable Dripping (Atomiser).

It gets more complicated the deeper you get. But more rewarding in my experience.

How has it been going for you mate? I am still stinkie free for nearly 18 days and not looking back. Hope you are free of the smokes! :)

Nice one!
I've had a few tbh, though a couple of those were when it was shorting out.
Other than that, I'm pretty confident that I can stay away from them.

Really not wanting to touch them helps a lot.

Sorry should have been more clear. I meant another device in case something goes wrong with the Vamo. Also what you going to do if you misplace it? Better to have backups for when you go to the pub and don't come home with what you left with. I normally take an ego to the pub when I go (not that often) just in case it turns into one of them weekends :D

I'm buying a cheap mech for my out and about gear today. Ego style just ain't cutting it.

Ah right.
Yeah, a backup or two is definitely required. Got my eye on a few :D

I'll get the MVP. Thanks for your advice. On the plus side the MVP is slightly cheaper than the Vamo, and I guess the fact that it can charge other devices is a bit of a bonus :)

I don't want to get into mechanicals or similar yet, as I've only ever had variable voltage batteries at best before :)

New stock today. . .

The Akuma Copper mod.

Stunning looks and boy does she hit hard!

Comes with its own wooden box that has a matching serial number to the mod itself. Nice.
Button (magnet) and threading is lovely and smooth too.

Every time I hit the switch she hisses and pops at me. One angry mod!

:D

This thread is too big to read. Basically, I've been smoking for 25 years and I'm fed up with cigarettes. I want to move onto vaping. Can anyone link me to a website that sells a quality vaping product with the oils etc. I've had a look but I haven't a clue what is a good product and what is tat.

Thanks in advance.

I'm even considering an MVP now! :D

I kind of think I might get one instead of the another Vamo I was thinking about getting. I've never really liked the look of box mods but well I've never tried one and hell I might like it.

It is a very good point about none of the cheaper VV /VW mods really lasting. The ones I've had all lasted about a year. To be fair some of them I broke by dropping them and if I could solider I might be able to fix them.
