Scientist takes killer 'flu virus, makes stronger

Why would you actively attempt to make a virus to kill people?
To prove you can, to sell to Terry Taliban, to sell to the Govt, to get in the papers, to hold the world to ransom, to get famous, or all of the above.

Doesn't hold a candle to some of the **** they supposedly do in Porton Down. All manner of crazy chemical weapons than could end human existence

Why would you actively attempt to make a virus to kill people?
If you can learn how to make something more infectious then you're one step ahead of the virus evolving and begin to research ways in which to prevent this and if and when it comes, treat it.

Think about if they knew about things like MRSA 50 years ago? We'd be so much closer to being able to treat it.

In the age of moaning old farts who take antibiotics with no good reason we need to do this kind of unprecedented research and if you ask me I reckon we should be doing more of it.

To hold in my hand, a capsule that contained such power. To know that life and death on such a scale was my choice. To know that the tiny pressure of my thumb, enough to break the glass, would end everything. Yes. I would do it ! That power would set me up above the gods.

ok davros m8 cool story

The power to essentially wipe out the human race for any man is too much. Wouldn't surprise me if the US GVT or similar will have something though for exactly this. Wiping out mass people and ability to claim it wasn't them

If you fancy a long read about cold war/post cold war biological weapons development and soviet doctrine on the matter http://www.nlm.nih.gov/nichsr/esmallpox/biohazard_alibek.pdf
It's a little window into how truly horrific the concept of biological warfare, on the scale that cold war nations were preparing for, actually is.

The only really shocking thing is that no-one actually used the worst of these abominations in a large scale delivery, given how itchy and aggressive some military and governments are.

In all fairness we could do with a bit of a cull, I mean you can't act like gassing a Justin Beaver concert wouldn't kill off a massive amount of people we could do without.

Nickelodeon character?

It's funny how nearly everyone can think of a group they would be happy to gas to death, and yet we can turn around and laugh at other conflicts as stupid and illogical. Yay us!
