Blue screens 3770K

OP,

I had an i7 3770k on a GA-Z77X-UP4 TH. From the very start I had 124 blue screen errors at random times, this was with everything totally stock.

To fix I had to increase voltage (even at stock) - auto cpu v was definitely not fine on mine! To make things worse it would corrupt my page file, and had to set the page file to clear on system shut down.

I eventually got the chip stable, and it's currently running as a server, however I think my chip has an issue and should have been returned. It was an OEM and after this chip I only buy retail.

Interesting as my main concern is that the debug blames Intel cache

What information did you use that said Intel cache?

Also have you tried the Intel diagnostic tool? Mine always passed however but still gave the issue.

Windows debug tool from developers SDK (see first post uses memory dump from the crash)

Intel diagnostic tool I assume from Intel?

Will give it a go shortly;)

If this passes I would suggest setting Windows to clear your page file on shut down.

In my situation. Windows was crashing and then leaving the page file corrupt. So even when I fixed with higher voltages windows would still crash due to damaged page file. This was very difficult to resolve as I was fighting two problems when thought I was only fighting one.

Downloaded Intel diag tool and run and it passed

Took your suggestion and set page file to clear via reg edit

Just mem testing stick 4 :p

they are safe to use, using one myself on another board

then manually set the

cpu/pci bclk to 100
vcore voltage response to fast
pwm phase control to extreme performance
set cpu/vtt voltage to 1.10v
dram voltage to 1.55v

then see if its any better regarding stability

Well all the memory tested fine, all 4 sticks back in could not find a problem

I have installed latest Intel inf and also usb3 driver

Only other thing I did was remove core temp rc6 and sidebar extension for it

Presently have hwinfo64 running with its gadget

Have run the valley bench 4 or 5 times doing a virus scan

Will rerun memtest later on all 4 sticks but been stable for 3 hours and counting

Taken wazza's settings 2 posts above no oc on the CPU and kept memory at 1600mhz

Wazza I did not flash the bios am still on F16

:D

see how it is over next few days,i only use latest modded bios due to them having all the latest microcodes

Hi Wazza,

had a few usb and black screen issues on Boot up I am leaning towards the motherboard been an issue

Other than the modded bios do I need anything else?

Which method did you use to flash this bios as seems to be 3

safest way is through qflash and usb memory stick

black screens could be cold boot issue,it only does it once if pc is off for a length of time?

if so its cold boot issue, latest bios and or touch more cpu/vtt might help

Flashed to bios 18i moded as suggested
Computer now stable

Boot times were long this seemed to be due to a high number of process interupts don't understand this but faulty system files seemed to cause this plus the fact system seemed to think I have 4 network cards

USB also seems to playing up but I can live with that until the end of the month as may go to z97 and a k4690/4790 with corsair h80i

Resolved this by using my windows 7 disc and reinstalling w7 using the upgrade option this appears to overwrite w7 leaving all programs and data intact :p

Big thanks to Wazza :)

if your running 16gb of ram id set cpu/vtt from 1.05 to 1.10v

stock 1.05v is usually fine with just 8gb,xmp profile wont adjust cpu/vtt either
