Show us your kitty cats

I thought you wanted a discussion on the points raised above, it seems not.

Sorry my mistake :)

Good luck with your theoretical future cat.

Nah I've said all I want to say. We could argue till the cows come home. At the end of the day, I have listened to everyone's opinions, and come to the conclusion that it's fine to keep a cat indoors if that's all it has known.

There are plenty of breeds where it is even recommended. Eg Ragdolls where they have no survival sense. Or Devon Rex/Sphynx where they get too cold outside.

Now while I'm no expert, there are plenty on record who support indoor kitties. Vets, breeders, you name it. And not just in the USA (where keeping all cats indoors is the norm).

I think we need to accept that it's a personal choice. What you find cruel I don't consider cruel at all. But this 'discussion' really has nowhere to go now so I'm making this my last post :p

I meant the topics of effects on ecology of outdoor cats and the clear differences between the potential risks posed to the wider public and other animals by something like a Alsation and a cat.

Regarding indoor/outdoor - I already said to each their own. It is a subject that divides cat owners all over the world and neither side will probably ever convince the other to change their mind :)

So as I said, good luck with your theoretical future cat (indoor or outdoor, we are all cat lovers here and that is the main thing) :)

Well, I've always have my misconceptions of cats and assumed to be anti-cat and very much pro-dog. I took these unwanted little bundles on and.... ZOMGZ!! I actually love them. The GF thinks it is hilarious how much I swoon over them, she says I'm definitely the girl in our relationship :D Converted and hooked.

This one, technically never was my cat.

My Fiance (Fiancee?, the female one) and i lived & worked on a campsite in France for 6 months back in 2010. One night we were sitting outside our tent, and saw a wee, scrawny beastie go past. So we got some sandwich meat and threw it for the cat. It was very very timid at first, and we didnt see it for a couple of nights. But slowly & surely she'd come back night after night and come very close to us. So after a month or so we bought a couple of tins of tuna to feed her (instead of sandwich meat - that stuff is expensive in france) and she started to poke her head through our tent

From then on, Moggy (as we named her) would be in our tent when we woke up, rubbing herself on us when we made our breakfast, and would be back in our tent or around us when we finished our shifts. She was actually a dead friendly wee thing.

But sooner or later, all good things come to an end. We knew we were only there for 6 months, so in the final two months we slowly stopped putting out food so she'd go looking for her own, and in the final month i never saw her at all. I hope she's doing ok, but we couldnt've taken her home with us as we lived in a city centre would not have been able to let her out.

So there we go, the story of Moggy, my feral

Two kittens playing is the very definition of amusement. So so funny watching them bounce about and chase each other.

My two are like most kittens I assume - absolute lunatics! Bouncing all over the place, tussling one another, jumping at silly things, randomly running in different directions and just being bloody cute. They're off to the vets later for their jabs

Also a stella cat name. I have no idea why I find cats with everyday human names to be so amusing.

I love human names for animals, it amuses me too. I have a really big male rescue rat. We called him Frank. He also gets called Fat Frank, or Homeless Frank which is particularly apt as he was in the rescue centre for months and now he has a really nice cage with comfy hammocks and bedding he still insists on sleeping on a chewed up cardboard box and a bit of litter down on the floor :D

Dave is a great name, my mate has a cat called Dave so I couldn't go for that or would. Other contenders were Quentin, Winston, Wilfred and Boris. I wanted to call the girl Doris or Maggie but the GF got to choose her name. I like Barry Cat :)
