Cyclist damaged my MK7 GTI in Central London

You need to try harder like most other cyclists I see in London.

Any gap that's larger than around 20mm either side of your handlebars means a minimum speed of approx. 20mph :p

I'm far from slow but there's no way to make 90 deg turn on a bike at 20mph ;) between cars it depends on the gap too.. 20mph is quite fast even for me and I've spent a good 500hours+ behind bars in the past two years..

You'd be shocked at what cyclists do especially I'm Central London, they race, fight and cut each other up.

I'm simply looking for advice on the smart repair.
 
Report it to the police. They might do nothing about it, but it will add to the statistics and hopefully maybe one day taken seriously as an offence and a commonly occurring thing.
 
It could be done via smart repair, however I suspect it won't actually end up much cheaper than just having the full bumper sprayed due to the amount of time they'll need to spend on it.

either get the bumper repaired/sprayed or see if VW do a painted bumper - the paint will match fine seeing as it's so new and you can just swap the ancillary gubbins over yourself.

Are you convinced there's no damage to the wing? Last thing you want is exposed metal there
 
I'm going to write to the Mayor. Cyclists should have liability insurance in Central London!

Thankfully, the wing hasn't been damaged. I will check whether VW can order the bumper pre-painted. The car is 3-4 months old and therefore, a colour match shouldn't be a problem.

Not helping with your repair , however I have to speak here. That damage ain't from cyclist.

Week last Friday I went into the back of golf full on and did less damage than that. Did more damage to myself, broken leg in 3 parts :(

Even though i was in agony i yelled at the driver I have insurance give your details to the police lady.

So us cyclists ain't all bad , a bit stupid maybe but not all bad:)

Your not looking for the debate because you know it was a cyclist (if so how?) or because you don't want to face the idea your partner is lying to you? Just curious.
 
I'm 99% sure that wasn't a bicycle.. it just not the damage you would get from a bicycle, there's no "wide" big enough part to do that damage.. no tyre marks etc.. it must be a wall or something bigger.

bike might do some dents, scratches(pedals) etc but not the above.
 
Guys, please. I don't care what you think caused it - we both own this car, we both pay for the insurance, there is no reason for my other half to lie to me whatsoever, it's a relationship not a dictatorship. The damage is done and all I'm looking for is opinions re the repair.
 
Tip for the future, if you want advice on here, only mention what you want advice about otherwise everyone will focus on the bit that's completely irrelevant and try and have an argument about it :p
 
I believe you as it does look like a scrape which can be caused by a bike!

I agree that cyclists should be made to have insurance as the number i have seen flouting the law and causing problems is mad! I know car drivers are bad too but we have to pay for insurance etc etc.

The other day a couple of cyclists deliberately went through red lights as if they werent there! It happens all the time. They just dont care
