Which do you prefer: PC gaming or Console gaming?

I have a fond memory of console gaming, mainly due to my parents not having the money to buy a PC "back in the day" So I had Mega drives, NES etc growing up and I loved them ! Although I did a C64 which I guess you could class as a PC type game (not really though).

With that said as I do enjoy quite a lot of PC games now. I like to mix it up, consoles have great exclusives and are good fun for playing with people (locally). PC's also have some great exclusives too and I have to say I do like using a keyboard and mouse for certain games. Each has their own pros and cons...

So with that said I sit on the fence, I like them both and enjoy both equally :)

Why should you "prefer" one type of gaming over another?

I like PC gaming, console gaming, gaming on handhelds, cards, playing chess, board games, playing with the cat (when he was alive)...etc.

It"s like asking do you like chips, mash or roasts...I like them all!

PC gaming by far for me - just don't get the same intimacy and freedom IMO playing on a console for many games compared to being closer to the screen and having proper freelook via mouse. There are games where this isn't an issue but I've no interest in splitting my gaming platforms.

There are times I've wished I could play some games while lying on my bed or on the sofa though, especially when feeling a bit under the weather like today.

PC, consoles are for peasants.

Please don't turn it into one of those threads.

I prefer PC, every console I've owned has been sold after a few months bar my xbox 360 when I didn't have a gaming PC.

Only '14 was nerfed, '15 will offer every feature the consoles will.

Apart from those legend cards in FUT I really want to try :(

PC anyday. I got a PS3 when the slim was released and apart from the controller being built for kids hands and hurting mine, I just prefer gaming with a mouse and keyboard (or wheel and pedals for driving games). I doubt if the PS3 has had 30 hours use in all the time I have had it.

PC always, I've played on a few consoles and they're too restrictive - and the graphics were horrible. I remember hearing how amazing the Wii was, until I played it and it looked like an arcade game from the '80's!

Console

Why? because I'm too old to be faffing around with upgrading/updating a PC anymore.

You are asking this in the "PC games" section of a PC enthusiast forum.

Seriously? :p

Beaten like a Ginger step child that has flushed your moby down the bog.

This is like going on Mumsnet & asking if Women Rule. :p

The only thing consoles have going for them for me is the mates around the tv local-social aspect. Otherwise they don't really do anything I cant do on my PC already, usually better, other than play exclusives that I'm not really interested in.

Console

- PC has too many hacks
- PC has the largest hacking community
- PunkBuster is rubbish
- PC games are dumbed down console ports
- Windows 8, drivers and APIs need maturing
- Oculus was bought by Facebook
- Hardware is getting more and more expensive
- BF4's input lag is appalling
- Engineers are getting lazy. Example no 3D Helix Mod support for DX11 games.

:p

PC is better. Consoles are "necessary evil" - meaning that I own PS3 and will own PS4 for some of its exclusives, but if those exclusives were on PC too, world would be a better place (and I could enjoy them in higher quality without having to spend hundreds of pounds on otherwise unnecessary boxes).

PC for the majority of gaming. prefer the graphics, controls, community etc...

consoles for party games (2+ players in same room) like mario kart and the like.

though can be envious as there are console exclusive games (MGS series on the most part) and they 99% of the time just work straight out of the box without some errors that you'd only get on PC.

also being able to trade in games and sell games on is nice. but a long gone option for PCs :(

I have a ps3 and that was bought for film streaming from my pc across the network and playing the MGS games :p did enjoy little big planet local multiplayer though :D

Always been a 'Computer gamer', even back in the 8bit days. With the excpetion of my two year affair with the 360, I've held nothing but scorn for consoles, controllers and their games.

With a bit of luck the PS4/Xbone will be the last gen.
