So we all know movie reboots suck right. They take a movie from the 80’s that you love and rip out all the stuff that made it great in the first place and replace it with ‘No Swearing’, ‘No Nudity’ and ‘No Violence’ to make the most bland, uninteresting and snooze worthy 2 hours to appeal to the widest audience possible. Artistic integrity be damned.

Problem is there are some films I would actually like to see get a reboot because I liked there premise, even if the film ultimately failed.

One movie I would like to get a reboot is ‘The Island’ from 2005, you know, that terrible Michael Bay movie. Reason for this is I loved the first 40 minutes of this movie so much, when it’s all set underground and they think they are survivors of some catastrophe. They are being picked by lottery to go to this safe paradise called the Island, of course that’s a lie but I will not spoil it for anyone how hasn't seen the movie.

Safe to say with a better director and smaller, more personal ending (no Bayhem!!) this movie could have been brilliant.

So are there any movies to would like to see be remade or do you think that it is a big no-no?

.

I wish that more care was taken when choosing movies for remakes. I don't see the point in remaking films like predator, robocop, total recall etc as they are nigh on impossible to better.

Chose a film that had a good premise but was done badly and make a good film out of it.

Struggling to think of any movies I would like to see remade though I can give you a list of the remade movies I wish I could remove from memory :)

The problem is, if you remake a bad film, people will think the remake will likely be as bad as the original and not pay to see it (for example Dredd). Film companies don't like this.

Remake a good film, and people will go to watch it expecting it to be as good as previously (e.g. Robocop). Film companies like this.

The best thing to do is to leave old films in the past, and make something new. If you have to, maybe use some ideas from the old bad films, but don't name it similar so people get the wrong idea.

Dune - The original i love but i think they could do some mad VFX Stuff with it again.
i really like the 2000 mini-series. I think it was excellent visually.

Stargate - Are they not remaking this ? The film was dire....Really it was. There is lots they can do there.
